if he really wanted to make a name for himself he would move to the united states and start fighting there since that's where the center of boxing is and how you get noticed. if you want to be a movie star do you stay in slovenia or do you move to hollywood? so he shouldn't be surprised no one wants to televise a guy no ones heard of. would you put someone you've never heard of in a big movie? doubt it.
Zavec's last fight was a mandatory defense. I am not trying to say Zavec is some p4p amazing boxer but I have been impressed enough with his career decisions to support him.

Boxing is bigger in Europe than its ever been, while at the same time its smaller in America than ever. Zavec is in his 30s and retiring in the next few years, I imagine he wants to face a big name in America as his cash out after a long career in Europe. What's wrong with that?

British welterweight Matthew Hatton is very interested in facing Saul "Canelo" Alvarez on March 5 at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles. Alvarez's promoter, Golden Boy Promotions, was trying to get WBA welterweight champion Vyacheslav Senchenko, who rejected an offer of $550,000 dollars to take the fight. A source told Mexican papers that Hatton would come a lot cheaper, at around $200,000, and Canelo would receive between $250-300,000 for the fight.

I hope for your sake that you are Slovenian to be a nuthugging a paper champion so hard
Paper champ? The dude won his title fair and square by knockout in the champ's back yard. He was huge underdog in the fight and scored the upset.

As for your once-sentence article on Zavec; he's the belt holder. If Canelo isn't trying to go to the champ's backyard to fight him, how the **** is Zavec ducking him? And for half a million bucks (or less)? Zavec draws 12,000 people in Slovenia.

Zavec was willing to go to Africa and take the title for a pittance, if Canelo wasn't interested then that's his fault, not Dejans.

I'm looking forward to seeing Zaveck fight again - hopefully we can find a steam, but if not I'm sure someone will soon post it in our videos section.

It's been a slow January and February for boxing. During the remainder of this month, there's really just this fight this coming Friday, the Donaire-Montiel fight on Saturday and then the Vlasov fight on ESPN the following Friday.

A Euro may be on the verge of fighting Bailey and Malignaggi at WW, and that somehow elicits praise from some people. Just shows how bad some Euros are protected, the mere thought of fighting a B-class American fighter signals some kind of step-up to them. I mean would we allow Andre Berto(who is 7 years younger than Zaveck) to fight Bailey and Malignaggi next? Oh boy.

Jan Zaveck's fight with Delgado will be today, in about three or four hours from now.
