This fight a tune-up so he wont have been inactive almost a year when he faces Randall Bailey. Zavec got his belt in the champs backyard by KO, then avenged his only loss to the #1 ranked IBF contender in the course of a year.

What did you do last year?
nothing. maybe i can get a fight with zavec? he beat hlatschwayo(one of the weakest champs). ok that's good but then look what happened once he got the belt. he hid out and fought bums. Rodolfo Ezequiel Martinez who is that? 8 loss rafal jackiewitz who just got a gift decision against delvin rodriguez? i can't believe zavec lost to him in the first place. now 9 loss delgado who i've never heard of. if randal bailey is some kind of super fight for zavec that's sad. randal bailey is supposed to be a tune up!

I dont really mind him taking a tune-up, but theres 0 reason for the bum hes fighting to be called a 'title defense'.

maybe thats not in his hands, but in general I hate tune-ups nowadays. If youre just fighting a stay busy fight over a completely unranked fighter, then theres no reason whatsoever for it to be called a title defense. grrrr...

otherwise I like Zavek, and really hope he gets to fight other top fuys in the division.

Well why don't you list some opponents for him then? Zavec was robbed against Jackiewicz in Poland, and got to avenge his loss once Jackiewicz became his mandatory after Dejan won the belt.

Frank Warren hasn't tried to put Brook in there with him. Oscar hasn't sought out the fictional Zavec-Alvarez matchup someone else mentioned in this thread. HBO turned down a possible Berto-Zavec unification. The only person in boxing that's interested in fighting Zavec is Paul Malignaggi so far, and thats up to GBP.

So what's your problem? Welterweight isn't exactly stacked anymore. The American networks and promoters have thus far passed up in interest in matching Zavec with any American names, so dude is still in Slovenia fighting his mandatories and showcase fights like this one coming up to promote boxing in Slovenia.

                  No, i'm not.

I know who Zavec and Sechenko are and I actually became of fan of Zavec from his past few fights.

Nothing can defend this sort of matchmaking and he is already just a paper champion.

I can't find the article yet, but I remember exactly Schafaer saying that they reached out to him but he wasn't interested in coming to America.

                    derp derp STFU!

British welterweight Matthew Hatton is very interested in facing Saul "Canelo" Alvarez on March 5 at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles. Alvarez's promoter, Golden Boy Promotions, was trying to get WBA welterweight champion Vyacheslav Senchenko, who rejected an offer of $550,000 dollars to take the fight. A source told Mexican papers that Hatton would come a lot cheaper, at around $200,000, and Canelo would receive between $250-300,000 for the fight.

I hope for your sake that you are Slovenian to be a nuthugging a paper champion so hard

well all 13 of those guys are better than delgado who i've never heard of before but why doesn't he just fight randal bailey now? why is he wasting everyone's time defending against bums? because he wants to take 90 percent of the purse and rack up easy wins against soft opposition. it's not really his fault though it's the system in boxing that is ruined. it rewards people for taking the safe route.

if he really wanted to make a name for himself he would move to the united states and start fighting there since that's where the center of boxing is and how you get noticed. if you want to be a movie star do you stay in slovenia or do you move to hollywood? so he shouldn't be surprised no one wants to televise a guy no ones heard of. would you put someone you've never heard of in a big movie? doubt it.
