I think that Ortiz was INLOVE with his POWER at the early stages of his career...However, since he faced Maidana, and lost he lost that LOVE for his POWER...even though he dropped Maidana 3 times by shots to the chin which is something Khan couldn't do he still doesn't trust in his power as of today...Like Julio Diaz said, "Ortiz lost something that night, he's not the same and only he knows what he lost"...but I feel like he lost the confidence in his power...he feels like his power will set him to fail because he gets too excited when he lands clean and he doesn't want to get countered...Maidana hit Ortiz with some bombs and Ortiz was in one of the best battles I've seen in the past three years...Just like a war veteran having postdramatic war syndrom I think that Ortiz has those flashbacks of Maidana hitting him at the gym...I think that his coach probably tells his sparring partners to soften up...I wouldn't be surprised at all if that happened...The kid wants to fight, but those flashbacks haunt him...The only way that Ortiz can get over this is if he fights Maidana again...He needs to get rid of those demons that haunt him...He probably feels like he wants to prove something to himself and get his soul back from Maidana...Ortiz even said he had "fun" fighting Peterson...He gave some half ass work...He had a chance to make a statement, but chose not to...This win over Berto will probably give him that confidence back since Berto is better than Maidana...Ortiz has that Elite athleticism and hasn't reached his full physical prime...He can be great and do great things in boxing only if he can retrieve what he lost that night at staples center...
