Yeah apperently you never watched him when he was a young safety first fighter. I used to watch him back in the early 90's when he was fighting in the great western forum series. He was pretty technical defensive fighter who almost exclusively relied on counter punches.

exactly,,he was way different back then,now he does box but seems to like to trade more,don't know if it's to please the fans or what,but he does box a little differently now,,another thing the man is about to turn 38,he's been boxing for i think 20 years,thats a lot,and it's normal if his boxing ability is declining

Manny never hit those guys as much as he's been hitting these bigger guys, for instance he hit Marquez 160 times in 12 rounds and he hit Diaz 230 times in 9. He hit Margarito with 474 punches in 12 rounds, I'm surprised Margarito didn't ****ing die after taking that many clean punches. I'd actually disagree with your argument for a different reason tho, I noticed that he hit Diaz and Oscar with everything but the kitchen sink yet he never rocked Oscar who was completely drained n over the hill and he never actually hurt Diaz until the last round when he had the life beat out of him. Both guys said he didn't hit hard. Then the next fight he sparks Hatton in 2 and LITERALLY hurt him with every right hook he landed in the first round, I couldn't comprehend what I was seeing even b4 the first knockdown. Then he drops Cotto twice in 4 rounds? And broke Margarito face and almost dropped him with a body shot only in the 4th round? And Clottey's face was a lumpy mess in the press conference you just couldn't tell cuz he's so dark. What I wanna know is how did Manny only put on THREE pounds between the Marquez fight at 130 and the Margarito fight at 150 but improve not only his power but his chin that much?

All claims about his rise in weight or accumulated punches over 12 rounds lose credibility when you consider his weights only gone up 3 pounds since his days at 130 and Hatton, Cotto and Margarito got ****ed up in the first 4 rounds or less before there was time to even accumulate punishment...make of it what you will
