The A.B.C (Unified) has no standing 8 count for this reason, safety. If a fighter is in so much distress that a referee must jump in to save him then the fight should end. Giving a standing 8 count will not, in most cases, allow a fighter enough time to recover therefore they would be subject to more punishment while in a hampered state..........Rockin'

My beef with standing 8 is the corruption factor.....you could have a ref who gets paid to make sure a give fighter gets the 8 when he needs it to recover.......the 3 knockdown rule is basically pointless IMO

Nah. IMO the ref should never stop a fighter on his feet no matter what... Let them have it the old school way like in the 50's. Aslong as the fighter is still standing and gets up after each knockdown let it continue... Don't stop the fight until the fighter is unable to get up after a knockdown.

These early stoppages makes me sick. Boxing was doing fine back in the day... this extra safety **** is ruining boxing.

I dont like either of them. theyre both ****** and should not exist.

if a guy is still good to go after three knockdowns, then he should keep going. only stop the fight if you think he is seriously hurt. ie Pacquiao Marquez I or Archie Moore Yvon Durell I.

mandatory 8 count is ******. the guy gets way more than 10 seconds to recover every time. gets to stand up early, weight till the 8 seconds are done, then the ref asks them if theyre OK for an hour, and by then by the time the other guy gets back over and around the ref whos in the way theyve had like 15 seconds to recoop. it can make a big difference.
They really need to fix that problem. After the 8 count is done, they should go straight back to fighting.

standing 8 count is sort of OK, but still dumb. if the guy is so hurt he cant protect himself while standing up, then wait an extra two seconds and then stop the fight, otherwise that guy will sort of recover just to get beat up the remaining rounds and end up taking more damage.

You are clueless as to what a fighter endures.

If you were cracked with a solid right hand and knocked basicaly unconscious but were still standing would you want somebody to step in or would you rather take more punishment and be beaten to the ground.

You people seem to fail to realize that while they are fighters they are human beings. Who cut the same as you, who want to win the same as you and whose brains can hemmorage the same as yours could.

I say stop the fight before really serious damage can be done. That fighter might get pissed but he will be back to fight another day.........Rockin'

id love to see a 3 knockdown rule in 4 round fights and such

its nearly impossible to come back anyway in a short fight
the guys arent being paid much
and a novice corner isnt neccessarily qualified to protect a fighter

and brain trauma, my friends, is for keeps

Early stoppages, standing 8 counts, 3 knockdown rules... all this is relativley new in boxing. Boxing was just fine back in the 50's, 40's, 30's so on was it not? I'm not asking for some extreme fight to the death stuff... All I want is that they go back to how it was 60 or 50 years ago where they did let it continue aslong as the fighter got up and was on his feet and were standing 8 counts and 3 knockdown rules didn't exist....
