Mayweather vs. Cotto post fight Thread -DON'T make new threads about the fight

Actually Ray was dominating toe to toe, and he was the aggressor....His offense was throwing Duran off his game...then Ray started waiting, and letting Duran get shots off..Ray is Not Mayweather...he dont have Inside D on that lvl to be able to use it for 12 rnds...Once Duran got off, he was landing everything and turned it into a dogfight..Ray could have won, he just lost focus and stopped attacking, started waiting too much...when Floyd sees the mistake, he capitalizes, much like Ray in that fight...but Ray started WAITING instead of capitalizing on all the mistakes, and it was a mistake...I think it would have been Awesome if he got the job done, and I think he would have TKO'd him in the 14th rnd!

MurkaMan, the way you saw Srl-Duran 1, is in line with what I saw, but, with the exception that, had Srl been fighting some poop-put, the outcome would have been a TKO in the 14th round or sooner, but, as we know, Srl was fighting, not just a blown up lightweight, but an equally matched atg in Duran, a fighter who loved, and lived for, trading inside game, and was smart enough to realize, that when Srl started getting tired and his mental wasn't as sharp as the fight wore on, it was his time to take over, and Duran had uncanny instincts, as we saw in his surprise victories past his prime, over Davey Moore at 160, and Iran Barkley at 168, respectively, my man...and i believe Duran had already been blasted out, by Hearns, before those two victories, or at least before the Barkley fight...

now, MurkaMan, Fmj has the defense, but i believe cotto will get his shots in and won't let his hands down, to get one-two comboed, and put on his back that easy, and the question is, at 34, 35 years of age, can fmj offensively and defensively, do a full 12 rounds balls out with a bull like cotto, who will probably be trained up for this fight like no other, and will have a weight advantage by the time the bell rings?...we will see, my man

I think a 35 yr old Floyd is in his PRIME....Floyd used to be so aggressive that he would get caught as a young fighter...then he became perfectly disciplined and patient over the years, where he could fight a whole fight without getting hit, but it made him boring...Floyd got HUNGRY last year, and it translated to him having this perfect sense of patience and aggression, where he can be patient without being boring, and be aggressive without being wreckless...I predict, Floyd will DESTROY Cotto...and I think Floyd will be a threat to Boxing for the next ten years...he's too hungry, training too much, too anxious to get in the ring, anxious to be aggressive, anxious to be exciting, throw combinations...Bernard is 47 yrs old...Floyd is in his prime, AND hungry...a HUNGRY Floyd is UNSTOPPABLE....I hear about Floyd stopping his sparring partners for Ortiz fight, KO'ing them, throwing combows, getting stronger from weight lifting during his layoff, and recently beating the crap out of Omar henry...My only concern was that Floyd would ASSUME Cotto was a brawler/boxer...and that Floyd would be surprised by Cotto, running while boxing on the backfoot, which would be affective(Ortiz and Mosley couldnt box on the backfoot..Cotto masters it)..But Floyd said, he already knew everything about Cotto's style and that he knew Cotto was a boxer, opposed to Ortiz and Mosley...once I knew that Floyd understood Cotto's style, and wouldnt be surprised by anything Cotto would do, I KNEW For a Fact, that this fight will show Floyd at his greatest...if Floyd hadnt KO'ed Ortiz, he would have threw millions of combos as the fight went on...This fight wont end like that....Floyd is going to get more and more comfortable as the rounds go on, and We will see Floyd at his best EVER....I think Floyd is going to be exciting, and Roger is so honest...I Believe he knows something we dont know...he says Cotto is getting stopped...and I personally, think Floyd is going to be WAAY too much offensively..WAAY too much...You'll see!

I agree with you about how much cotto has in the tank but we must remember he only has 2 loses...1 coming at the hands of plaster and the other at catch weight but I think Pacquiao would have won on the cards regardless...Cotto is in his early 30's and has good experience in title fights and is still fighting at high level...for people to think that he is washed up is absorb...but to think Cotto could have beat Mayweather when they both were with Top Rank is just as crazy...The only reason I believe Cotto and Mayweather didn't fight years ago was the fact that Cotto wasn't ready to face Mayweather at that point and Floyd was in the mist of leaving Top Rank...Floyd was light years ahead of Cotto at that point and still is right now...The fight won't go the distance and Floyd will destroy Cotto simply because of his skills, speed, reach advantage and Cotto swells up and cuts up early in fights...There's no way his corner lets him take that type of punishment after 8 or 9 rounds like they did against Pacquiao...

ray b...i never said cotto would have beat fmj, when they were both in the 140 lb. division, and i believe titleholders, but most felt it would have been a more legitmate victory for fmj, had he fought cotto, before margarito questionably fought him with loaded gloves, or before manny pac questionably beat him down, while sipping on the gassed up kool aid...lol...after all, cotto was filling the big room in msg, with the likes of zab judah, a fighter fmj got mad flack for fighting, after losing to baldimir of all people, so there was definitely enough incentive, and $ in it, my man

personally, i don't have a favorite fighter such as yourself, but cotto is a fighter i can respect...he's fought everbody they put in front of him, and was always game, win or lose, to go out swinging...i respect fmj's skills as well, but i hope cotto has enough left in the tank, to give fmj a tough fight, only because the top fighters, imo, are getting involved in too many mismatches, where the outcome is already predetermined, and laugh all the way to the bank...it must be good for a top fighters fanbase, to see their guy, always matched up with fighters, who are either past prime, totally shot, have to move up two divisions to fight 'em, or just not on their skill level...i guess i'm too old school, for what passes in today's boxing world...lol

I agree with what your saying on Floyd as a younger fighter, he did open up quite a bit more and although he may have got caught at times it sure wasn't often. I personally think his best years were at lightweight. What he did to Corrales opened my eyes.

He has a much better respect of his opponents at the higher weight divisions regardless of what he says. His Ortiz fight was interesting to me, for the fact that he really didn't bother to open up right away. Don't get me wrong he did plant his foot in the center of the ring and force Ortiz do go back but he sure as hell wasn't committing to any combinations. I tend to believe that had a lot to do with Ortiz's power and his concerns about getting caught. Although he was pot shotting Ortiz at will with the straight right he wouldn't dare come back with the left hook. I like to believe eventually he would have broke Ortiz down to the point where he would start opening up more but who knows? Maybe its a sign that he's slowing down a bit.

I believe if he gives Floyd the space to operate in the center of the ring he'll just get tagged all night long. Favorite fighter?..LMAO...Man did u read anything I wrote?....I wrote stuff based off a facts...I never said Floyd was my hero...I just think Floyd is waaaay too hungry....A hungry Floyd, is unstoppable...My favorite fighters are Chad Dawson and Paul Mccloscey....but anyway, I give Floyd mad props for fighting Cotto at 54.....Cotto's style will bring something new out of Floyd maybe...all I want is a good style match up...At first, we wanted to see Floyd fight a bigger guy like Mosley and Ortiz...seeing Floyd walk down these big brawlers is getting played out, so now Im ready to see Floyd give a boxing lesson to someone who boxes more...Im kool with this fight, and all the fights Floyd has been having lately!

I dissagree....Floyd threw TWICE as many punches against Ortiz, than he threw against Mosley...Floyd was overly cautious against Mosley..fight was very boring...against Ortiz, he threw a punch, EVERYTIME Ortiz made a mistake, even after the clinches, he was catching him with different punches, at all angles..Floyd even threw a 4 punch check left hook combination...Dawson is one of the only ones who I see throwing that double,3 punch, 4 punch, check hook combinations...Mayweather SHOCKED me by how much he let his hands go in that fight...and He didnt come back with the left hook, cuz his goal was to slowly take Ortiz best punches away, make him gun shy, then open up in the later rounds (like he did in the 3rd and 4th)...Floyd himself, said as the fight went on, he was going to throw more and more combinations, and I believe him cuz he's just too hungry at this point...he's in his prime...Bernard is 47 yrs Old...Floyd is 35, peek, and HUNGRY..A HUNGRY Floyd is a beast and too much for ANYONE for the nxt ten yrs..and I also believe the older you get, the harder you train...guys like Mosley and Oscar, get tired as they age...Floyd is working out like he's 26...him and Broner are the same age, and he trains more than Broner...Mayweather can even run 30 second miles...Thats amazing...I expect a show come May 5th...Floyd at his best!

if this is a boxing match, fmj wins easy...cotto's gotta make fmj fight to have a chance to win

if cotto has enough left in the tank and is in tremendous shape, at 154 he'll be naturally bigger than fmj and should be able to take his shots for some rounds....this is the fight where he should take a chance, and use some of that past experience as a pressure fighter to make fmj fight...he jabs and moves forward on fmj, yeah he'll take some leather, but he gets inside and fmj's back is against the ropes, cotto isn't a slouch when it comes to bodypunching, i can see him picking his shots to the body on fmj, and you got a good fight...like castillo 1...if fmj keeps it in the middle of the ring, his ring generalship/iq kicks in, and it another boring potshot night

I think it would be a big mistake, if FMJ chooses to stand in the pocket and trade with Cotto for 12 rounds, much the way it was a mistake for SRL, who actually was the natural welterweight to stand and trade with Duran for 15 rounds. Not saying, that Cotto is in the same league with Duran, but Cotto, if he has anything left, does have bricks in his gloves, like the Hands Of Stone.

Maybe Floyd will mix it up. Cotto's record at SWW is overrated IMO. Cotto jab is not better than Oscar's and both are natural southpaws. Unless Floyd slowed down a lot of in terms of reaction time, I think Floyd takes it UD.
