Come captain bold, tell us how Leonard's "retirement" is not ducking.Comment

As for after... come on... one year of demanding a fight is "not really wanting it", "stopping quickly". you can't be serious...Comment

such was srl's career...imo he had all the talent, but was a media darling, prima donna fighter, who beat everybody on his terms, who claimed he didn't do rematches after beating hearns, but when he chose to slug it out with duran and lost straight up, immediately begged for a rematch, especially after he heard duran had slacked off after the first fight...his politics was mad corny, and all the retiring and unretiring started to wear thin with a lot of old school cats i know...cats were cracking up, when terry norris pretty much ended his career...
Hearns was gassed.....
Duran was out of shape for the rematches....
Hagler was old and fought righty for the first 4 rounds....
Benitez was cut.....
ALL excuses. Leonard deserves credit for those wins.
mj223, i can see why you would favor srl, in the hagler fight, but at the same time, you should be able to see why, many who supported hagler, and even casuals, felt srl shoeshined hagler out of his title, when the adage, you gotta whoop the champ, should have applied when it came to beating hagler for his undisputed middleweight title....now, after how srl got on his bicycle in the championship rounds, which was one of the first fights to move to the 12 round format from 15, mj223 can you honestly say srl whooped hagler for his undisputed middleweight title?, or was he more interested in throwing some meaningless flurries, in the last 10 seconds of each round, to steal rounds with the judges and entertain the crowd....
I dont agree with the notion you have to do more to beat the champ. I dont see how that is fair. Score it round by round without bias towards either fighter.
And i believe its a total myth that Leonard threw meaningless flurries at the end of the rounds. His punches throughout the fight were sharper, cleaner, harder, and his flurries had Hagler covering up, and Leonard when pinned against the ropes getting hit by Hagler, fought his way out with spectacular flurries that stopped Haglers attack. For a guy who hadnt fought in 3 years, what he did was incredible.Comment

I want to see how Cotto is gonna react to the body shots PBF throws. That jab to the pit of the stomach PBF throws does damage on 2 fronts. It takes it toll over the course of the fight and it also stops the fighter from applying pressure and makes them reset.Comment
