Hagler fought a retired welterweight who hadn't fought in years. It's amazing how Floyd gets ****ted on for fighting lil Marquez, but Hagler who made a career out of fighting smaller guys gets so much credit.

hagler, unlike hopkins, fought (and ko'd) a ton of solid natural middleweights in obscurity, waaaaay before fighting srl, hearns, duran, & mugabi for the big $, which by that time, he was more of a flat-footed stalker, who specialized in wars of attrition...

fmj gets ****ted on with marquez, because fmj was @ 147, made marquez jump up 2 divisions in a catchweight fight, and didn't honor the agreement when he came in over the catchweight limit...there was a gross size, height, reach, advantage for fmj all around...the actual fight was a mismatch because of it...

in comparison, one of hagler's smallest opponents, atg roberto duran, came up from lightweight to middle to meet hagler, but in the ring, there wasn't much of a size disparity, and duran was quite competitive with hagler...

Wow the difference wasnt much then. Marquez did get screwed then if Cotto is getting this in return for a Floyd fight. Marquez deffinately deserves a bigger payday IMO.

acutally i think cotto can give fmj his most competitive fight in a long time, if he can cut the ring off on fmj effectively and pick his shots when he gets fmj on the ropes, the way castillo did in the first fight...
