this really is a HELL of a debate, and can be argued in so many ways. im not a huge fan or either roy or calzaghe, but i appreciate them both equally for their unique styles and fun fights.

In my opinion you have to punish a fighter historically speaking for fighting too long...I just dont get it with this prime stuff, if a fighter is well past it retire, but I think its ridiculous you have Foreman fans come on here talking about how great he is and how he dominated boxing but looking over the fact that he was outclassed by Tommy Gunn, or Ali was so dominant against Foreman and then a few months later he was well past it in a 15 round slug fest with a guy from a local YMCA famous for his ability to last although cut profusely. I hate how old fighters get credit for all their wins and an excuse for all their losses. (Unless your name is Vitali Klitschko and then even at 39 you are considered a failure for not KOing everybody you face).

To me Calzaghe is the best at 168 adn I dont see how its arguable. he dominated that division for a decade +. He fought many guys who were considered very good at the time and nobody beat him there. Jones has the Toney win and one win doesnt mean anythin historically speaking. Rahman is ****, btu he beat Lewis. Jones beat a version of Toney that to me was well below 100%. So Jones gets a pass from being below 100% against Joe C, but he gets the full credit for beating a guy who looked like he had spend the last month in a sauna. Oh and Joe never tainted his legacy. When he started to slip, he got out. This is a man who wasnt knocked down until his mid 30s. He had slowed considerably, lost all of his power, and his legs were giving at times. He couldnt spar and when he got into fights I remember the first 2 rounds of every fight after the Kessler win, joe just seemed nervous or anxious. He never lost and he never made excuses.

Calzaghe takes it on achievements, longevity.

If you wanna argue on talent, Roy beats most fighters in history

I'm big on Calzaghe too, but his reign at 168 was nothing spectacular. The best win on his resume was Hopkins and that was at Light Heavyweight.
Roy Jones' best win was against a plodding braindead Toney that got choked out in 30 seconds by a 47 year old, doesn't look so good now as it did then right?

Papp never fought at 168, he was a Middleweight and very small one at that plus he never spent much time in the pro's, kind of random to bring him up.

He is one of the greatest Amateurs though not so much Pro.
