Thread starter you put this in the wrong part of the forum.

The fantasy fights section is where it should be.

    Less idiots there.

If it was at 166 then Hagler would be a good 6 pounds heavier than usual and Calzaghe would be be a good pound or two lighter. Neither fought at this weight

I already gave a description of the styles and what Calzaghe's advantages are and his best chance of winning.

Many people can't gave a style matchup because they don't know anything about Hagler. They think he was an aggressive brawler because of one fight.

Calzaghe leaves himself open to way too many counters for him to even stand a remote chance of winning this. Not only do I see Hagler winning this,I don't even see it as being that competitive.Calzaghe's style is too basic and predictable against a precise, sharp shooting counter puncher like Hagler.

The weight wouldn't be a problem, either.Hagler could have competed as a light heavyweight had he wanted to - it's just he was too content with calling out fighters from lighter weight classes to ever make the effort to move up.

Yes definetly, that's why i can see hagler KO JC! imagine he tried to act silly like he did against jones jr? Hagler would put his brain to sleep if he put his hands down!

Although Calzaghe is taller, Hagler actually has the reach advantage. He had very long arms. Hagler had a better jab, better defense with his parrying & head movement, more refined technical skills, and is one of the most versatile/complete fighters to lace them up. He could box, brawl, fight lefty, fight orthodox, be effective at long range, mid-range, and up close.

Calzaghe's advantages are that he is naturally bigger (he had trouble making 168 in the era of day before weigh-ins) and quicker. His best chance is to use flurries and in and out movement. Outhustle Hagler up close with fast flurries and then get out. If he tries to swarm Hagler and pressure him, he's going to run into those short crisp shots or eat a lot of right jabs.

Calzaghe takes a good shot and had excellent conditioning. I think he'd steal a few rounds using the above style I mentioned, but ultimately, Hagler prevails by decision.
I agree with everything pretty much but I think Hagler could stop him late, that was Haglers thing he methodically broke down a fighter from the get go in order to stop them, since he hated leaving it to judges for obvious reasons. Mugabi fight is a good example, people go on about it because Hagler was obviously in decline and it was a pretty even fight before the stoppage but on watching it you notice a lot of subtle genius to Haglers work right from the start.

In other words, you have no break down because you don't know anything about Hagler or styles and your only capable of posting smart ass comments that mean nothing.

Catch weight fights are iffy! but this one might be interesting!

Some say calzaghe is overrated but we haven't seen em lose..but against one of the best?

                      What do you guys think?
a super middleweight/light heavyweight vs a career middleweight at a catchweight....lol i dont even know how this one goes...maybe calzaghe SD win if he fights hagler on the outside since he has a size advantage along with weight advantage but haglers no joke he could also outpoint and even KO joe...so it can go either way tbh..
