For me Its Gatti Vs Ward. They both had to gut it out. Going in I didn't think Ward could beat Gatti. But He just kept wearing Gatti down. And took some hellacious shots in the process. Both are great fights though.

The Gatti/Ward fight, in fact all three, were more or less in Gatti's favor, and Ward only won the first one due to a scoring error (one knockdown does not = a 10-7 round. Plus, it wasn't even for a title.

Corrales/Castillo was a meeting of the two best fighters in their division to decide who the king was. On top of that, unlike Gatti/Ward 1, where Gatti boxed most of the fight and "stuck to his game plan", Corrales and Castillo both threw caution to the wind and traded blows in the center of the ring over 10 grueling rounds.

Corrales/Castillo is the better and far more significant fight.

Gatti/Ward to me is a wonderfully entertaining fight, but it doesn't reach the same level.

Maybe you should watch the Gatti/Ward fight again.. Gatti boxed the first few rounds, after that it was a war.

i dont think it matter who won the decision. it was a war period. and IMO the better man won the first fight

Coralles vs Castillo was the better fight.2 world class fighters going at it impressed me more than a guy like ward who had 20 plus loses on his record going against Gatti who isn't a world class fighter either.
Neither of these fights are the best example of 2 guys showing heart and 2 guys just going all out.Diego has a pretty bad chin. When you hit him he goes down.So him being knocked down and getting back up isn't special.Gatti has a prett bad chin.Light punching Ivan Robinson was able to hurt Gatti repeatly. The best example of a slugfest between to top of the line fighters was Foreman vs Lyle.To see a guy like Foreman down 2 times in one round is a sight to see.

Maybe you should watch it again, during the late rounds he started boxing again, so at least for half the fight he boxed.

Neither Corrales nor Catillo boxed at all during their war.

gatti vs. ward was a great fight and a war but castillo vs.corrales
was a better fight for one it was a champioship fight to determine the best at their division. it was also just as much of a war as gatti vs. ward but what makes it an overall better fight is the dramatic ending forget the mouthpiece to comeback from 2 knockdowns and win by k.o simply incredible..
