If Cotto made 500k PPV then that's 27.5 Million dollars. Again how much they get, it's still a lot of money.
24/7 is paid for by promoters according to what I have read.
Advertising on their own channel is free.
A lot of things take time, financing TV programmes, dealing with advertising, broadcasting etc... so time is not a factor when they pay people to do accounts anyway. They have lawyers etc... to do these jobs.
If saving the money was worth their time, then they would'nt put a budget out for boxing.
In fact that would go to all sports.
They want to make money, heck all the shows end up being pay per view if a boxer starts selling well.
In the long term, it will also cost them. Viewers and money because Top rank have very good names.Comment

Here's what happened.
HBO wanted Martinez-Cotto on March 12.
Arum didn't want to put Cotto in there with Martinez for obvious reasons (he'd lose).
Arum offered them Cotto.Vanes. HBO turned it down saying they would do Cotto-Martinez on March 12, do or die.
Arum said fine...gave Don King a call and put togehter the Mayorga-Cotto fight and did a deal with Showtime for March 12.
Then he went and screwed HBO on the Pac-Mosley fight to teach them a lesson. You don't give Bob Arum demands. He can do a whole card on PPV on his own without HBO or Showtime's help so he's doing this to prove a point. He hasn't burned any bridges, he just creating a future bidding war over Pac which is good for for business.Comment
