By Chris Williams: Instead of stepping up and facing Yuriorkis Gamboa, World Boxing Organization (WBO) featherweight champion Juan Manuel Lopez (30-0, 27 KO’s) will be facing Gamboa’s last victim, Orlando Salido (34-11-2, 22 KO’s), in Lopez’s next fight on April 16th at the Coliseo Roberto Clemente, San Juan, Puerto Rico. All I can say is I hope Bob Arum isn’t making this a pay-per-view fight because I don’t pay a cent to see Lopez beating up on a guy that was soundly beaten by Gamboa.

How in the world can Lopez be facing Salido next when Salido is coming off a one-sided two-knockdown loss to Gamboa. What’s the point? I think this is a terrible choice for Lopez. Come on, shouldn’t Salido at least have to beat someone in his last fight to get a title shot against. I mean I know that Manny Pacquiao, another one of Arum’s fighters, sometimes takes on guys that are coming off a loss, but does that mean that Lopez has to do it too?

Why doesn’t Arum match Gamboa and Lopez? What’s he waiting for? Lopez got rocked in his last fight against Rafael Marquez. If Arum waits too long, either Gamboa or Lopez are going to get beat and then Arum won’t be able to put together a cash out fight between them. There is such am thing as waiting too long. Gamboa and Lopez need to fight each other because they are never going to get popular on their own beating up on guys like Salido over and over again. Good god, what’s the point in this fight. They might as well have picked out Bernabe Concepcion and had him go another round with Lopez, because at least that fight would be entertaining. Salido is limited and will lose again.
Yes, please put Gamboa in the with Juan Ma already so we can get the one Cuban poster out of here already.
I know he knows more than Bob Arum about his business but thats not important.

I don't really see the issue here.

        Salido is ranked #4.

Gamboa has a fight sceduled and Chris John just fought last month.

Its obvious Lopez and Gamboa are going to meet up down the line.

Lopez is gonna rematch Rafa, so who are these guys kidding? Twistin the head on the Puerto Rican ****. Lopez is scared to death of a real challenge. Solis is a better opponent than Salido and I'll even venture to say that he's a better challenge than Rafa even though I don't like how Gamboa is making him move down. Just like Cotto and Margarito one guy is getting matched up softer than the other in the lead up to their fight (Like Cotto was with Gomez and Judah while Margarito fought Cintron and Williams) but the Ricans want to stay blind about it because they view Lopez as their new god.

Yeah, one fight. I'd venture to say that Clottey is a better fighter than Quintana too. But this thread aint really about them two. I was throwing out a comparison since I think Solis is better than Salido is and Lopez is fighting Gamboa's leftovers just like the Cubano is alluding to.

I'm not so sure about that anymore. The rematch does suck, there is no denying it. Juanma would deserve criticism if he takes that rematch.

However, there are talks about Rafa going back down to 122 and fight Nishioka for the WBC belt in April.

I like the way this guy makes out these professional boxers to be thugs in the street that are "scared" of each other/crossing the street when they see eachother....lol
Like Arum has not already said his plan. Let the boxers live. I want to see the fight too but Im not angry at every Puerto Rican fighter like you. Also the only guys I see calling there boxer a "god" is filipinos for PAc.
