At least his loss was in 08, and not in his last fight to Gamboa, where he never looked like he had a shot to win (Salido) or a kid with 9 fights (Rigondeaux).

People can make excuses but Juanma avoided Caballero. For whatever reason he did. I always felt he could beat Caba but him and/or his people were not as confident in that. It is what it is.

Well I think its an interesting fight, don't forget Marquez and Salido both have the SAME TRAINER in Daniel Zaragoza. Marquez fought well and hurt Juanma NUMEROUS times, he did stagger him worse than I have ever seen Juanma wobbled before.

So Zaragoza might have something up his sleeve, a one handed Marquez did fairly well I believe Salido will put up a good fight might pull off the upset we never know, this is boxing fellas.


I think every other featherweight is pretty busy fighting someone else but Juanma could have fought the PANAMANIAN Celestino Caballero or given PONCE DELEON a rematch since he is ranked #1 by the WBO.

I think Eduardo Escobedo could beat him, he's trained by Nacho Beristain but he is unknown so that rules him out.

Overall, I think Salido vs Lopez will be a good fight, both men come to fight and both men can take punishment so seems like a nice brawl!

That is understandable, but we have to realize that Gamboa and all the other TOP featherweights have upcoming fights to take care off. A rematch with Marquez would be good only if Marquez wasn't out because of surgery on his shoulder.


The only possible opponents for Juanma at this point would be Caballero or Ponce deleon who is fighting in 2 months.

Juanma needs to stay busy and it would benefit his body and pockets so Salido is a good match up.


Either that or he can make a 122 fighter come up, or a 130 lb fighter go down and take ish for it.

Don't noone get me wrong I want Gamboa vs. Lopez as much as the next guy, but it's all on Arum's hands.
