martinez's trainer's remarks against cotto and pac while true is hypocritical

cotto and pac are near retirement themselves, but martinez wants to fight them. wouldn't' that make martinez a guy who fights guys near retirement? answer: yes.

martinez himself is already talking about retirement. So even if cotto and pac fight martinez, they'd be fighting someone who is near retirement.

On a side note, this is obviously a lame attempt at picking a fight with cotto and pac. I believe cotto already gave sergio his terms in order for the fight between them to happen.

The only reason why team sergio would put this out there is to promote the fight with dzinziruk. that's pretty weak, when you have to use other boxer's names to promote your own fight.

    excellent point, Pull

it's simply an attempt to get a fight against either Cotto and PAC or both...

i dont blame Team Martinez for cashing since Sergio himself is looking at retirement

Cotto and Pac are further from the finish line of their careers and closer to their primes than Mosley and Mayorga are.

He makes a valid point about Pac's and Cotto's recent opponent choices but he also leaves out that both Pac and Cotto have overall better opponents then does Martinez.

Can't blame the guy. He is simply trying to ride the wave a bit longer and take advantage of his position. Now, like I mentioned on another thread, he should forget about PAC 'cause that ain't happening. Now Cotto is VERY visible, think about it, Cotto comes out of Margo with a great victory and Sergio can offer him the 160 belt(at a catch-weight if necessary) and give both a good pay-day, gives cotto the opportunity of a fourth weight class and gives the fans a fight they would want to see. Cotto-Sergio sounds very real but PAC-Sergio isn't happening...

Alot of people are flaming saying both are ducking Martinez, but I don't see how.

Given both Cotto and Manny's resume, and the type of fighters they are, they could very well end up fighting Martinez.

People act like we are dealing with Mayweather or something....

I don't blame sergio cause this hasn't come from sergio's mouth, but his trainer is shoving his own foot in his mouth with these remarks. I do believe sergio deserves to cash out, but I think there is a better way of going about it.

doesn't matter. both have put in way more mileage than sergio and are near retirement. cotto is nearly there. he's over the hill and coming to the final straight away. pac has peaked and will retire soon.
