  • Comments Thread For: Berto-Ortiz Negotiations Hit a Wall Over The Catch-Weight

BoxingScene.com was informed that the ongoing negotiations to make a fight between junior welterweight Victor Ortiz (28-2-2, 22 KOs), and WBC welterweight champion Andre Berto (27-0, 21 KOs), have hit a wall over a catch-weight dispute. Ortiz's handlers have requested a catch-weight of 143-pounds. Berto wants the full welterweight limit of 147-pounds.

144, 145 sounds fair to me! I mean Berto doesn't want to fight Cintron who is a true welterweight and a very tall and powerful one at that! so I would have to say 145 would be a perfect weight since Berto is not no damn welterweight specially when he doesn't want to fight any good welterweight and don't make excuses there's none because I'm sure Clottey, Cintron, Williams, Soto Karass, Jones would love to fight him!

This is seriously a bitch move from Ortiz's camp. I know people are gonna come at me and say "Ortiz is a Jr WW" but on the real he's freaking huge and there is hardly any size disparity here, he's simply looking to gain an advantage. Either he wants to make a statement at 147 or he doesn't...up to him. Really doesn't make sense, especially for a guy who's most likely killing himself to make 140. As a matter of fact they might actually be the same size!

Pac's fighting bigger men. Andrea is fighting guys smaller making them come up. Maybe he should get tips from Puto dominicano cheaters like guzman about losing weight using drugs and get down to 140.
