Its good for Promoters to be independent and not overly reliant on any network, And it's also good for Networks to choose the best fights on the table and reject the crap ones, Hope HBO does that across the table with every single promoter.

he does leave a lot to be desired, no doubt. but he isn't reliant on Vegas, he isn't reliant on 1 network to cover his fights and he seems able to do business with most of his competitors out there with the exception of his biggest rival GBP....smart cookie.
i bet the fat cats at HBO are counting the pennies lost with Cotto and possibly Pacman fighting off their network and thinking maybe they made a bad decision going head-2-head with him over the Martinez date.....I think Arum will beat HBO at their own game n the end and they will come round to letting him put on pretty crappy undercards for his main events..

HBO is in the Pacquaio business, they make a lot of money from hosting Pac fights. He's their biggest guaranteed cash cow right now.
So they do want to host this event. Arum is the one, who's bringing this threat being a dick of the whole Cotto situation.
HBO forced a Martinez-Dzinzuruk fight, Dzin isn't known by any one out side of hardcore boxing fans. And Martinez is not some big star.
They are airing Alexander-Bradley who are slow on tickets and are not big stars either.
They rejected Berto-Gomez.
HBO doesn't care about Pacquiao vs Mosley for good reasons. They are going by what the real boxing fans want.
They are changing the way they do things and which fights they support.

As long as Arum has Pacquiao in his possession he will continue to act like he owns the sport. When Pacquiao said, "I'm just a fighter, it's up to my promoter to negotiate for me...", something to that effect, in the interview at the end of the Margarito fight, that solidified Arum's stranglehold of his fighters' future fights. He decides what fight gets done from then on with impunity.

So yes, HBO gives a shit.
Time Warner is not worried if Pac starts fighting on Showtime because they make billions.
