  • Pacquiao vs. Mosley might be headed to Showtime (PPV)???

Dan Rafael twittered this hours ago:

@danrafaelespn "Lotta chatter in the biz that Pacquiao-Mosley is no lock for HBO PPV & that Arum is serious about possible Showtime PPV deal. That'd be big."

Good, I don't have Showtime nor do I care to pay extra for it. I only pay for HBO. *** Arum and Showtime. I hope this means we will no longer see those crap of Top Rank cards anymore, on HBO.

ive got to admire the way Arum conducts some of his business....he is very self sufficient and has his fat fingers in many pies and never lets anyone dictate how he should conduct his business.

he does leave a lot to be desired, no doubt. but he isn't reliant on Vegas, he isn't reliant on 1 network to cover his fights and he seems able to do business with most of his competitors out there with the exception of his biggest rival GBP....smart cookie.

i bet the fat cats at HBO are counting the pennies lost with Cotto and possibly Pacman fighting off their network and thinking maybe they made a bad decision going head-2-head with him over the Martinez date.....I think Arum will beat HBO at their own game n the end and they will come round to letting him put on pretty crappy undercards for his main events..

You got it the other way around buddy. Bob Arum is threatening to bolt out to Showtime, after HBO "awarded" a boxing date to Maravilla instead of giving it to his ward, Cotto, who's been loyal to them and a consistent moneymaker for HBO for years. It's also could be a payback of sorts after HBO made their bed with Golden Boy last year, rewarding GBP as their sole producer of their boxing events. Unfortunately, GBP's stable is not deep enough to sustain their program. I don't like the Pacquiao/Mosley fight either, but leave that issue for another day, this is not about that fight...
