Not saying that it will/would happen, I'm just thinking outside the box a bit here.

But you can't deny how big of an impact that would have not only on PPV sales, but Boxing in general.
The question isn't marquee name as much as it is budget. There's a reason why the marquee names (and the soon to be marquee names) all head to HBO.

Aww man you should get Showtime. And, I'm not saying that cuz' of this Pac BS. I could careless where is at I'm not paying for it.

But, showtime puts on better fights on a consistent basis over HBO.

Even though HBO has the bigger budget...When it comes to exciting fights, and just good fights for hardcore fans is Showtime>HBO.

Its funny seeing Arum act like a dumped girlfriend...

Although I am perplexed that they favored Martinez/??? over Cotto/Mayorga. Doesn't make sense to me, but its whatever

Pac/Mosley wasn't going to be bought by me anyways, so no big loss

he does leave a lot to be desired, no doubt. but he isn't reliant on Vegas, he isn't reliant on 1 network to cover his fights and he seems able to do business with most of his competitors out there with the exception of his biggest rival GBP....smart cookie.

i bet the fat cats at HBO are counting the pennies lost with Cotto and possibly Pacman fighting off their network and thinking maybe they made a bad decision going head-2-head with him over the Martinez date.....I think Arum will beat HBO at their own game n the end and they will come round to letting him put on pretty crappy undercards for his main events..
HBO didn't make the decision to go H2H with Arum over the March 13 date. Arum made that decision. Arum could of easily picked a new date when he was informed that Martinez already had that date secured.

Anyways as far as I can see right now. I don't about it in a business sense but for the fight fans HBO made the right move.

Why would I pay to watch Cotto, when on the same day I can watch Martinez for free?

It really is Showtime>HBO. However, on March 12 it will be HBO>Showtime that night.

                ,

                They're neck and neck...

Seriously though is not that I hate HBO is that they frustrate me with some of the decisions that they make. I don't get how Showtime not having even close to the budget that HBO has can put on better fights on a consistent basis.

Like look at the Bradley-Alexander fight. Great fight, good move by HBO right? However, as far as I know and as far as I have read it will be the only televised fight. But, on the undercard they have 2 prospects at 140 fighting each other in a 10rd fight in Coleman-Parris and they will not show that fight? I'm baffled as to why they can't make it a double header and showcase 2 up and coming JWWs when they're on the card already.

Another instence 2 other prospects at 126 are fighting each other on March 26. in Jorge Diaz vs Teon Kennedy. They will be on none televised portion of the Gamboa-Solis and Garcia-Remillard fight. Why not make it a triple header and open the fight with Diaz-Kennedy-2 undefeated prospects? They're already on the card is not going to break budget by showcasing prospects fighting each other.

Showtime would show it. But, I don't understand HBO can't do shit right.

LLS at paying for Cotto vs Mayorga. Man they just trying to rip people off and have people pay for anything. A fool and his money are quick to part!!! Yall can pay for that **** if yall want to. Watch Martinez vs a decent opponent on regular HBO or pay at min $45 to see Cotto vs Mayorga like that is really a hard choice to make.

Budget and return on investment. It seems so many people are down on this fight that maybe HBO thinks that it just isnt worth it.

No, HBO wants this fight. If HBO can chose they will pick this fight. Lets face it they're in the Pacquiao business. It makes them money.

Is just Arum being a **** because HBO went with Martinez over Cotto for the March 12 date. That Arum might be thinking of sticking it to HBO by taking one of, if not, their biggest cash cows across the street.
