Winky's Shuns $3M Offer To Fight Trinidad!

Winky's only big hope for a big payday is with Oscar; does it look like Oscar is in a big hurry to make the fight?

I don't blame Winky for avoiding Tito. if he wants a long reign as Champion then thats a wise thing to do. When i saw him fight Mosley i enjoyed it but i thought to myself if he fought Tito like that he would get slaughtered. Seeing OScar fight him would be interesting or maybe even a rematch with Varga's ifhe comes back. (Lets avoid a third Shane beating PLEASE)

I'm assuming that Winky just wanted to up his purse. Trinidad has been given more recognition of course, more respect but if Winky has the confidence he'll grab this chance. I'm sure he'll get more recognition and respect if he makes it through. He's got to meet this challenge head on.

What? Winky is refusing a ticket to superstardom? Any other foghter would jump and grab this opportunity. Let this be a sacrifice fight if he makes it through the all next fights will be megabuck fights, I'm sure.

You just dont understand boxing. Saying Wright is very hittable is like saying that Floyd and Toney are very hittable. Floyd and Toney let guys hit them and they roll the punches or block them with their hands, arms, and shoulders. This tires fighters out then you can dominate them when they stop punching. Wright also lets people hit him. He always keeps his guard up. You cant penetrate his D. He keeps his arms straight up so that's all you hit. All Mosley was hitting was his forearms. You could see that he was frustrated because he couldnt get through. Wright leaves his body exposed for shots just like Sturm, but when you have used this technique for a long time then your body is trained to handel the body punch. Oscar watched tape on Sturm and thought he could eat this guy's body up, but it never hurt Sturm because he has trained his body to handle them. That's exactly what Manny Steward was saying after the fight. What Oscar was doing early on looked good but it never hurt him because he is equipped to take that, and what happened. Oscar started to wear down. Tito never goes to the body anyway. He will hit Winkys arms all night long

i respect your OPINION but you too have a clouded view of boxing. the one thing you have to understand is that every boxer is very hittable. its just a matter of finding out how to do it. mosley was hitting arms i agree, but as we saw mosley does not have the power that trinidad has. if trinidad hits his arms like that they will eventually drop. when your arms are getting hit it takes thier strength away. sure mosley couldn't do it but mosley does not have the power that tito does. and you say that dlh stuck sturms body. i agree. but with love taps compaired to what tito would do to winky. and correct me if i'm wrong but doesn't dlh have a reputation for being too tired to fight after say the 6th round? tito never goes to the body? you obviously didn't even watch the tito mayorga fight let alone ant of his others if you say he doesn't go to the body. now i'm not sayin that if tito and winky fight its going to be total tito domination. winky hs a very good chance for an upset. but the one thing you have to remember is that the one thing that most of tito challengers have underestimated is his power. tito will eat alot of jabs. sure tito may hit arms for the first 2 rounds. but i just don't see it that way. tito is an accurate puncher. he pics his shots wisely. i would take tito mid fight stoppage. as far as the money goes..... gimmie a break. winky needs to quit being a leech. stop trying to get the money that tito is drawing. it makes no sense to me for winky to make more than 3 mil. i wonder if sturm would take the 3 mil? i'd rather see that fight any way.i give sturm a better chance at tito than i do winky. just my OPINION guys.

Somewhat surprisingly, Wright has shown himself to be an idiot. Its not like the superstars are knocking down his door to fight him. $3,000,000 not good enough, huh, for someone whose fighting style couldn't draw flies? Only in boxing.

Yea the guy whos been retired for 2 years came back and beat up a guy SMALLER than Winky after being ko'd his fight before that should make over 3x as much as the undisputed champ. Sure, I ****in understand now

I was at that fight when Tito beat up tht "little" guy....me & about 18,000 other people....We all shelled out some $$$ for that fight.
The PPV #'s were pretty damn nice, too.

& guess what ? We all got our money's worth.
That's why TITO is in the position to call the shots. The guy creates excitement & never disappoints.

Could Winky draw that many people ? Not even close !
Could Winky generate that kind of excitement ? LMAO !


What about Oscar getting almost 3x the amount Hopkins did ?
Did you have a problem with Oscar, notorious for SUCKING in big fights/coming off a GIFT DECISION win, getting that much more than the the undisputed middleweight champ ? The guy who is the conscensus choice as the world's best fighter ?
Did you have a problem with how Oscar made all that money, then fought like a ***** & quit like a *** ?

I think that I am the only person here that thinks that Winky is completely wrong. It is Tito's fan base that is paying for this fight, and it is Tito who could fight my grandma and make 10 million.

What these fighters have to consider is what their next best alternative is.

Tito can fight Quartay and make about 10 mil.

Wright can fight Ouma and make about 500,000.

Hopkins took less to fight DLH because it was his best chance to make money and it was out there.

Vivian Harris turned down $750K to fight Hatton and he fought in Germany for $100K aganst Steve Urkel or something.

Wright should thank his lucky stars that Tito is willing to fight him.
