That's a class statement by Duddy. Much respect and well-wishes to him.

That is a man of morals. Turning down a $100,000 because he wouldn't do himself or the sport justice.
John Duddy is a proper man. I wish him the best in whatever is next.Comment

definitely support and respect his decision.
however, would have liked to see him make one last run at a title and it is not
far fetched seeing as he said its one win away.
a win, title fight, win or lose and retire would have been scripted well.
but this is real life, all the power to him and good luck.Comment

Kudos to John Duddy, for realizing his heart isn't in it anymore and not just getting in the ring for a payday and risk potential injury...John Duddy, has always shown toughness and grit...and is now bowing out with class and grace....All the best to him and his family!!!
John Duddy needs to talk to Evander Holyfield continuing to fight when its very clear that he's well past his prime and his skills are not at a level where he can become champion again, its a disgrace.....Comment

Well, I kind of saw this coming. Duddy hasn't been the same fighter ever since his loss to Billy Lyell. The last time I saw him fighting on the Pac-Clottey undercard against that kid Medina he looked so lethargic and. Those fights were a foreshadowing of his eventual retirement. I guess this news will take away some of the praises El Dinero Vaca got after beating Duddy, since now we know Dudde wasn't 100%.Comment

I'm dissappointed that the "all Irish mw fight" between John Duddy and Andy Lee was finally made (after all these years) to have it canceled. I respect Duddy's decision to retire though, he was a blood 'n guts warrior in all respects and took an immense amount of punishment in his career. Here are some pics of Duddy in action:

Ahh this sucks I wanted to see this fight since I plan on going to the fight. I hope they find Lee a quality opponent, as long as its a god fight I don't mind. Still, have to respect the man's decision, boxing is one of those things that if you don't have the fire you better not compete.Comment
