Duddy was never a top knotch fighter, but did give it his all in the ring & was a very nice guy..I went to New York for the Cotto vs Abdullayev fight(in 2006) & as I was standing outside M.S.G talking to some trainers & exfighters from the Gleason's gym Duddy was passing by & knew them & came up to talk to them for a moment, at the time I had NO idea who he was & 1 of the guys introduced him to Me & We spoke for a moment & that's when I found out he was fighting on the card & he was really nice & humble...The guys I was talking to told Me he had a good following in New York & I noticed inside M.S.G that there were a few Irish guys sitting around us(they spoke with that particular Irish accent) & before Duddy came out, all you heard was the sound of "Bagpipes" & all of the sudden all over M.S.G were people cheering, clapping & singing something I couldn't tell what it was!! But he DID HAVE A GOOD FOLLOWING!!! He won an 8 round UD against a guy named Patrick Thompson..& his last fight against J.C jr was really good(since they are both at the same level) He showed a lot of heart, cause when it looked like he was out, he came back swinging!!!
Good luck to Duddy in the future!!!Comment

I remember reading a story by Thomas Hauser or someone at the Ring about how badly Duddy got screwed over by some shady promoters and managers and how he lost a few years of his career just fighting them legally.
That alone can make people just say **** it and retire.Comment

Thank you Duddy!
Duddy was not an A listed fighter, BUT he always fought his heart out and gave us the fans our money's worth! He was entertaining and he will be missed! Good luck to you Duddy, You will always be remembered for being a true fighter! Enough said!Comment

lol mush is being sarcastic right? chavez soundly beat him, but it wasn't what i would call one sided. there was plenty of two way action. duddy just doesn't have the punch to match his heart. i bet if he trained harder he could have been better. he had a good trainer, though.Comment
