to be fair, the Norton win was a decent win at the time, although he definitely was far from prime.

I actually think Conney would have ended up with a longer, more successful career if he hadnt been rushed in to fight Holmes so quickly.
he was an interesting breed of Heavyweight.

Norton was far from a great win, but a good name on his resume.

I agree he could have been much more successful. I would of given him a much better shot against Weaver who I believe he was originally going to fight before the Holmes fight came through. After Holmes his confidence was never the same and he turned to the bottle. He could have been something with that incredible left hook. By the time he fought Spinks though he was a fraction of what he had been.

This is exactly right 100%. Like when point out certain fighters like "Bonehugger" Smith and Tillis going the distance with Mike as a shortcoming,. failing to realise they basically lost every round and held on for dear life.......

Spinks = maybe the best ever at 175.

It was a good win, not a great one. Spinks was never a great heavyweight so we can't call beating him a great win.

Bob Foster is also arguably the greatest light heavy ever. Do win consider Ali and Fraziers wins over him great?

I don't know much at about him, I never realized that Tyson was his last fight.

He's an all-time great at Light Heavyweight, a traditional division with a rich history. Being an ATG in a traditional division alone pretty much gets you ATG status, for it's not like being one of the greatest ever at Super Middleweight or Cruiserweight, divisions with short histories.

While he was merely a good heavyweight, becoming the legit, linear HW champ of the world certainly adds to his standing all-time.
