      THE TRUTH

Vitali took the fight on just 10 days notice.

Vitali was clearly winning the fight 4-2 on all 3 scorecards at the time of the controversial doctor stoppage. Lewis was badly hurt and was staggering around the ring like a drunk, he barely survived the 2nd round. Lewis was getting outboxed, outworked, outlanded and was hurt several times in the fight.

      punches landed

      Vitali 156

      Lewis 102

Lewis was exhausted, worn down and hurt from the accumulation of punches and was ready to get KTFO again, he collapsed onto his stool at the end of the 6th round, Vitali was the fresher of the two, he was a man on a mission and would've KO'd Lewis for sure if the fight had continued.

All the fans at Staples Center cheered for Vitali and booed Lewis after the fight.

      Lewis promised Vitali a rematch.

Vitali destroyed Kirk Johnson in 2 rounds and called out Lewis again in the post fight interview. The scared Lewis retired shortly after that fight.

Lewis turned down 30 million dollars for a rematch and retired like a coward because he knew he would get destroyed by Vitali.

Vitali dominated Lewis and scared his bitch ass into retirement.

George Foreman: "Vitali was winning the fight. Lewis got lucky. There has to be a rematch!"

Jim Lampley: "A lucky escape for Lewis who was clearly losing the fight"

Even Emanuel Steward was upset and pissed off at Lewis for blatantly ducking a Vitali rematch.

Lewis is scared to death of Vitali.
Oh wow, Vitali's greatest win was against an old out of shape Lewis that was about to retire anyway. Its like someone beating Vitali now and me rubbing it in when we all know Vitali is not the prime young fighter he used to be. Grow up.

i think the lewis/vitali match can be argued both ways. vitali was winning the fight. but lewis was coming back with some good shots himself later in the fight. Ultimately, I think it was a ***** ass move for Lennox to walk away like that after basically saying on live TV he would rematch him. Lennox had been so good with his money, he just thought to himself he didn't need to risk the possible damage to his resume, not to mention maybe his face this time lol. I still think Lewis was a great champ. he just cowered out.

            Yeah that's his dad.

Also I found out a few weeks back that he is being trained by Augie Sanchez.

You never know with these guys. One minute they talk about the olympics then the next minute you read about them signing to a promotional company and making their pro debut.

If I had to guess, I would say after the Olympic games in London but again you never know with these kids.

Its a little of both arguments

There's a lot more Europeans going pro and looking to make a mark, and at the same time there are far fewer quality athletes going into boxing in America.

They both took the fight on 10 days notice. Here was the real situation:

Lewis had a title defense on that day against Kirk Johnson. Vitali happened to also be fighting that same day against an undefeated Cedric Boswell.

when Johnson pulled out of the fight, Vitali and Lewis both agreed to just fight each other, since they were fighting the same day anyway.

what lucky circumstances for the last really good HW fight of the last decade.

So true. Don't know why people are looking for some sort of racial reasoning to this. It's not surprising that the # of European fighters, quality ones, greatly increased with the fall of the Berlin Wall and the "dismantling" of the USSR. And that, African-Americans (around the same time) who wanted to go to college took advantage of the scholarships offered to play football and basketball.
