Why would ODLH weight-drain himself over 7pounds.

ODLH weighed in at 145lbs. Check it on boxrec.

Manny is the catch-weight King. It's scarred his legacy, weakening his opponents like that.

What I don't understand is why he'd let Clottey weigh in at 147lbs, but he demanded Cotto fight at 145lbs. He obviously was trying to weaken a dangerous opponent like Cotto.

Then he fights Margarito at 150lbs. Why didn't he let ODLH fight at 150

Show me an article where it states ODLH requested to fight at 147. If I see it, I'll believe it and admit I was wrong.

Everyone knows the fight was at 147, ive NEVER heard 145, ever.

ODLH doesnt take anyones demands being the top dog. Again, common knowledge he requested 147. Im not gonna dig up **** for someone who just started watched boxing and decides to make up all these lies.

The IQ level here has dipped exponentially since I first started lurking a year or so ago.

Pacquiao brought Delahoya DOWN to 145?? You mean Pacquiao actually made Oscar Delahoya....boxing's golden egg and undisputed PPV king...concede to his demands? hahahah!!!

Delahoya brought Manny UP to WW thinking he'd have a chance against the much smaller man. Pac had several 130lb fights, and ONE lightweight (135lb) fight with David Diaz before Delahoya asked him to move up to 145. So barring the Diaz fight...and read this clearly now...

Delahoya brought Pacquiao up almost 15 lbs (weigh-in weight, not fight-night weight) thinking he'd impose his size on Manny. Huge mistake, as Roach hired Alex Ariza to make Pacquiao more muscular and heavier without losing too much speed.

Cotto.....weighed 146lbs for his fight with Clottey...and was awarded a friendly SD. He and his trainers said making 145 wasn't so tough.

I'm no Manny superfan, but I call it like it is. Catchweights have been around forever. Usually the smaller guy loses.

And all it proves, in the end, is that the old addage remains tried and true.....

        STYLES MAKE FIGHTS! not weights

the hard truth is, hopkins is a scaled down lightheavyweight who's been beating up on welters, jr. middles, and middles his whole career...his fans know it, yet offer up the most far flung excuses you ever want to hear

            2) Cotto at 145lbs.

All in the space of 2 years.
            please research before posting this.

ODLH pulled manny up to WW (147 limit) from LW, that's 2 divisions where manny only had ONE fight at LW yet.

Hopkins aint fight for no title in those catchweights.

Didnt make his opponents weaker in title fights like "catchweight" Manny does.

Hopkins fought at three catch-weights (one more than Manny!), the key difference being he was fighting guys smaller than him at unnatural weights. Is fighting Pavlik and Winky at 170 acceptable?

Floyd's groupies are spouting the same ****e and their hero fought at a catch-weight against a bloated up LW and still failed to make weight. Why is there a double standard? These same ******ed Hopkins fans are calling Manny the "Catch-weight King" yet their midget beating idol has fought at more catch-weights. Logic defies these blind fanboys.
nope and I remember quite a few people criticizing Hopkins because of it calling his fight with Winky a Winkyweight title fight.

Umm, please try again. The Winky fight was for the most prestigious title in boxing. Surely much more of a sin than Manny fighting for WBO/WBC, no?

Yeah true, but there was nowhere near the outcry that there is for Pacquiao.

Hopkins is a joke plain and simple. He has made a career of beating up little guys and he's called a legend for it.

Tito never won a round against a fighter considered elite above 154 (schooled by Winky, Hopkins and Jones)
Oscar got a gift decision against Felix Sturn, a fighter who pound for pound could not hold his strap.
Winky was a fat mess, a career 154 fighter 16lbs above his natural weight
Pavlik, the reigning MW king who got brought up 10lbs and didnt even rehydrate above 174lbs.

Hopkins has good wins over Johnson and Tarver but everyhing else on his record is vastly overrated.

He even tried to take Paul Williams up to 170lbs.

Roy Jones exposed Hopkins on radio by saying when they spoke Hopkins plan was to beat smaller beatable fighters to build his name.
