I have a question about JMMarquez and Morales

Guys that fight at lower weights have a shorter shelf life. They become what fighters call "punchy," which means they end up with a lessened equilibrium and their reflexes and speed deteriorate.

Marquez was a safety first fighter for the majority of his career and took a lot less damage than Morales. Morales was a first rate Mexican ****er who was simply in too many wars. If you want a classic example, youtube Jose Luis Castillo's fights with Chico Corrales, then looks at his fights against Ricky Hatton and Alfonso Gomez. Not at all the same fighter.

If you look at Marquez now, you'd say that, while he gets hit a lot less than Morales, he still gets into some brawls (Diaz I). This was simply not the way he fought most of his career, and is probably why he is still in such good condition at his age.

This is a great response. However, there is a huge factor that is missing here with respect to both of their careers, and that's their respective out-of-the- ring lives. Morales was notorious for ballooning up in weight when he was in between fights. He would kill himself to make weight afterwards, and it eventually caught up to him. He was also rumored to like to party and even rumors that he indulged in the nose candy. Marquez on the other hand, appears to have a more calm lifestyle outside of the ring, as well as keeping his weight under control in between fights. All jokes about him drinking piss aside, I think Marquez took better care of himself outside of the ring, and this factor is what we can most attribute their currents states to.

This pretty much sums it up. Quality of opposition, and I'm not sure when Marquez started fighting but Morales was very young and he jumped right into the deep end. He was fighting top-notch opposition early and often. Marquez wasn't doing anything.

I dont know how long you have watched Marquez, but in the begining he wanted those big name fights and they made the excuse that he wasnt a big draw. He fought who was available while Barerra, Morales and Pacquiao deservatly hogged the spotlight with ATG battles. It was a timing thing not Marquez bull****tin. When he got his turn he shined. You are obsessed with hating a man that you probably dont even know. Weird **** man.

As for wear and tear it is no question Morales took way more punishment than JMM because he rearly rolled a punch and prided his self on punishing his opponents at his own expense.

The answer is simple, JMM is just leagues better than Morales in every way and never had to fight like a caveman to win fights.

Plus he's always taken better care of himself in between fights. Morales was notorious for womanizing, drinking and i even heard ******* rumors.
