Why the hell is Cotto fighting Mayorga?

It is the way it is. If you can generate revenue like Cotto does, you should get paid. That's part of what guys work so hard over a career for. What do you mean by rightfully so? No fighter should be commanding that kind of money for fighting Ricardo Mayorga at this stage. Sorry. You can sit here and say, "well, that's the way it is" and I'm cool with that. Doesn't it make it right or good. Just goes to show the sad state of affairs in the sport today.
The thing is people act(not saying you're one of them) like this is on PPV cause the promoters think it's a good fight. It's on PPV cause it's NOT a great fight, and no network would pick it up. However, Arum is risking money out of his own pocket so that we have the option of watching it.
I see absolutely no reason to complain about that.Comment

No what? What about this fight justifies it being on PPV?Comment

To complain about a tuneup on PPV? I guess. It is the way it is. If you can generate revenue like Cotto does, you should get paid. That's part of what guys work so hard over a career for.

Bob Arum doesn't want him to fight Mayweather because he knows Mayweather vs Cotto would out sell Pac vs Mosley any day.
He is taking all of Mayweather 's options away.Comment

No.. that any fighter should not be getting paid that type of money in fighting Mayorga.. But having said that.. Cotto is justified in asking for a higher paycheck because he is a draw, whether we like it or not....Comment

Again...it's on PPV cause it's a tuneup. No one is making anyone buy it.
The options are:
Put it on indepenent PPV and risk losing money but giving hardcore fans a chance to see the fight.
or
Stage the fight with one of boxing's biggest attractions, and offer no way to view it on television.
If anyone should be taking heat, it should be HBO for not paying 1.5 million for Cotto-Vanes. I'm no Vanes fan, but that's a legitimate fight, and 1.5 million is a bargain for that fight.Comment

There are other options but Arum won't ever entertain them. Why should he? He's convinced the masses that paying $40 for a tuneup is good.Again...it's on PPV cause it's a tuneup. No one is making anyone buy it.
