because he hasn't fought since Yuri and he needs to stay busy leading up to his upcoming fight against Margarito or Martinez (most likely Margarito) in June.

Why do so many people underestimate Mayorga?! This dude has a A+ chin, awkward style thats difficult to deal with, has decent power, that man is a live dog in there, I think this is a pretty good fight man...

But lets say mayorga gives him some hard time ,let alone mayorga wins..will cotto have enough time to recoupe for a june fight?..and if cotto loses,will margo fight mayorga?

Cotto needs another fight before he fights Tony, and Uncle Bob is keeping him away from any sort of a competitive fight until then. HBO wanted him against Angulo, Cintron, or Martinez, but Bob turned down each fight (Nov, Dec, and now March).

HBO is mad at Uncle Bob, so they've chosen to go ahead with Martinez vs Whoever instead of buying the fight Arum offered.

Margarito coming back from two brutally one sided losses and Cotto looked bad in two of his last 3 fights
