Comments Thread For: Paul Williams Wants Martinez Trilogy, DiBella Responds
Former champion Paul Williams is very interested in a trilogy fight with WBC middleweight champion Sergio Martinez. Williams won their first meeting, in December 2008, by way of a close twelve round majority decision. Martinez got his revenge in November when he knocked Williams out in two rounds. Martinez is scheduled to return on March 12 at the WaMu Theater in Madison Square Garden.

* that was not a lucky punch, go fix your D

shows that he should not get in the ring with Martinez again. Inorder
to KO someone like that you would have to sit down on your punch.
Never seen a lucky punch that devastating. The mess up thing is that
now all the top guys don't want anything to do with Sergio. I thought
this was boxing? As soon as a fighter sees another dominate, they
want to fight him but not in this case and this day and time. That
goes to show how far technical skill gets you. Williams thought he
could smother Martinez and outwork him but his mostly offensive
fight game got exposed. I like Williams as a fighter but if he has
a trainer geesing him up about another fighter getting lucky,
then it is time for his trainer to go because all he is going to
do is get Paul severely damaged.

Williams' trainer is obviously delusional...either that or he's only trying to cover his own ass for not teaching PW any defense....they need to buck up, go back to the drawing board and make any changes necessary before....oh wait, they had SAID that they had already done that prior to the SECOND fight!...oh well.....
no need for a third fight...at least not for now....

I think Paul should leave Sergio in the past. Props to him for wanting to redeem himself though.

I wanna see a trilogy too...
1st fight was fight of the year
2nd fight was knockout of the year
It's 1-1

If Paul would use his reach and size to his advantage he can win that fight easily. But he never uses his reach. He fought sergios fight both fights and he payed the price. If he can't learn to box smart he will get koed again
