Juan Manuel Marquez. “I’ve been hearing in the news that Juan Manuel Marquez is interest in a rematch with Pacquiao, I don’t blame him. There were times I pushed back facing him when I had better proposals,” said Morales

      dont overlook this fact

Marquez was reached to fight hamed on short notice after being hamed #1 contender for 2 years. less deserving fighters fought hamed in that 2 year periond. the one time hamed makes a offer to Marquez is on short notice.

thats a fact not an excuse
Well Marquez acknowledged he was offered the fight and a career high payday. Sad part is he fought someone a week or so around the time he could have fought Hamed. So you mean to tell me he was ready for that fight not Hamed?

      Whatever dude.

I'm just gonna delete all of my comments as I was baited into dissing Marquez, something I really didn't want to do as I respect him as a fighter.

That's really a shortcoming I have as a poster on this site....letting fans bait me into dissing guys I like and respect. Happened with Roy, B-Hop and several others...but this time I'm just gonna fall back.

So what? Is that the reason you ranking him #1 is cuz' he could have had the better wins?

Charles Burley was avoided by most elite fighters, should he be rank ahead of fighters that actually have the better wins/resume?
i dont rank Marquez number 1 its a tie in my opinion between Morales and Marquez but Marco is clearly third. for the reason that they out performed in against common opponents.

there i not a guy on marco resume that Marquez and Morales didnt fight that i dont think Morales and Marquez wouldnt be able to beat

its really perception of the information

i dont think you were dissing him because you believe he should have made the most of his opportunity. i understand that but i dont agree that hamed didnt duck or willing chose not fight Marquez for 2 years

Again, SRL out performed Duran against common opponents. However, by most respectable rankings Duran is rank higher.

But, that you means you playing the would of, could of, should of game. That is not how you should rank fighters. You should rank them by who they beat and what they accomplished not what they could of done.

Accomplishments are pretty much even between the 3. All 3 are 3 division title holders. All 3 have 1 lineal title. So that is even.

Now who has the better wins. No matter what JMM could have done against Hamed or Morales, fact is he didn't fight them. For whatever reason he didn't fight them and he doesn't get extra credit for what he could have done. He doesn't have a win better than a prime Morales and Hamed. He just don't . And, he doesn't have a win better than a prime Barrera and a prime Pacquiao. He just doesn't.

Is JMM the better fighter out of the 3? Sure, I will not argue that he is most skilled out of the 3.

Is he amongst Morales and Barrera in terms of accomplishments? He is right with them.

But, in terms of resume and wins that is where Barrera and Morales separate themselves from JMM.

Can't give JMM extra credit cuz' he was avoided or what have you. Because, the fact is we do not know how those fights would have turned out everything about a fantasy fight is opinion and speculation.

And, in terms of rankings you go by what actually did happen and you rank in terms of resume/accomplishments.

as you said their accomplishment are pretty even so that were longevity comes in. and Marquez edges Marco and Morales in my opinion for that category ( but not enough to edge him clearly in front of Morales in my opinion)

but i would agree if i was ranking them based on signature wins only then i wouldnt have Marquez and Morales tied for the top spot
