UFC/MMA will be around for a long time. Its more of a "realistic" fighting scenario. When you get into a fight on the street or what ever its not a boxing match with a ref to break you up. Its normally leads to full contact fighting. More people can relate to it and there is more excitement as it only being 3 to 5 minute rounds. I love both sports and will always be a boxing fan first but I don't understand the logic of some people as your either one or the other... I love all fighting sports. Hell I only like hockey because of the fighting.

UFC is popular and will only get more popular as it relates to a bigger group of people. Its a realistic and people can relate to it unlike a "boxing" match. Not too many people can say they where in a boxing match unlike a real fight. But its what ever I hope for both sports to improve and to be around for a long time. i would also love to see guys transition back and forth maybe have a first ever champ in boxing and ufc/mma. It could happen.

Boxing has more of a payoff but you have to really care about it, be invested in it, be knowledgeable about it (except for Klitchko fans).

Whereas, to the idiot mainstream viewer, MMA has two muscle bound bald guys with tattoos attacking each other with heavy metal music playing in the background and commentators screaming at the ******est ****.
      what this guy said...................

exactly, its an easy sport for them to get behind, because they know at least once monthly there will be a PPV card they can count on having an 'event' for.

When you get into a fight on the street its not an MMA fight with a ref to break it up either.

Also I have seen a lot more street fights end due to quick accurate punching rather than guys rolling around on the floor attempting to get a dominant position or a submission hold.

Why would a ref need to break you up in an mma match? Because you bite? Hit low? Dont do anything at all? lol You need a ref in boxing to break you up not in MMA.

I have to agree with most of u guys. I'm definately more of a boxing guy, but in MMA the top guys always face each other. There are just far to many obstacles in the way of making the best fights happen in boxing nowadays. Promoters not working together, To many belts in each div., etc... when a sport bar buys a PPV, does that just count as one buy? I know a guy that's the manager of a sports bar. He said it is extremely expensive to order PPV and cost has something to do with how many people the place will hold.

So the ref never gets involved in MMA bouts? The ref doesn’t dive in as soon as someone is down and in trouble? The ref never breaks up the fighters and stands them both up?

MMA is not like real fighting

                  ufc took wwf/wwe thunder.

ufc sales affect pro wrestling ppv sales not boxing.

Your missing the point. What I was saying is, MMA is more realistic to every day fighting than just boxing. Yes refs get involved in MMA but not as they would in boxing.

MMA is so realistic that even militaries around the world are adapting to it and even promoting it. There is even a military version of UFC that is more popular than the military boxing (which is much like olympic boxing).

Why do you think the UFC is so big on having events on bases or representing the military all the time?

Which carries me back to my original point, more people can connect with MMA than just boxing. MMA is about as real as you can get just controlled so nobody dies or gets seriously hurt.

I was working with a local sports bar owner who was showing the mayweather-mosley fight at his place. He also said the licensing fees were so much that he was considering canceling the event due to a lack of interest on the "street." There must be some type of formula they use to figure out potential profits.
