How much can we attribute the PPV buys for UFC to all the sports bars ?

I live in the Dallas Metroplex area and it seems that every sports bar in the area has the UFC fight posters and they get the UFC fights. I live in a city of about 80K and Buffalo Wild Wings and Hooters and probably about 20 or 30 of the other sports bars in town get the fights. So i can only imagine that it is like that across the country. So to me, every UFC PPV is going to get at least 200 to 300K ppv everytime. There was another thread about the PPV buys this year and it being dominated by UFC, how can it not be when every sports bar in America gets the fights. But on the other hand none of the sports bars here get boxing ppv's. But i still think it shows that when it comes down to it that boxing is still king.

Someone else made a comment about boxing being in trouble when Floyd and Manny retire, well someone else will step up, they always do. Ali retired and in stepped Sugar Ray, Sugar Ray retired then in stepped Tyson, Tyson effed up and in stepped Oscar. Then people were saying that boxing would die would Oscar retired and in stepped Floyd and Manny. Remember Manny and Floyd were around a long time before they became the cash cows. They both did PPV's they did 300K buys before they became the cash cows. Someone will step up, whether it be Berto or Alexander or Ward or Khan or Alvarez or whoever.

I talked to some guy during a UFC event. Can't remember, I think it was lesnar/Carwin? anyway I asked him if he watched boxing. This was his response:

UFC guy: "Boxing is too boring and too long. I dont wanna sit there for 12 roundz. In UFC we got all action wif 3-5 rounds so it doesnt put you to bed"

UFC is the "in" thing so of course sports bars will be packed. I can't take too much into it because they charge 45$ a PPV a month. This was just like WWE back in the 90s. Well, you see what happened to them.

45$ for SD, 55$ for HD.

Lol. because you know, the 2 best lightweights in the world don't shadow box for 5 rounds nor do they hold there opponent down for 5 rounds. Really.

MMA use to be able to say that their fights were exiting because more often you saw guys getting KTFO or subbed. Now that guys are fighting to win and hold on to the belt you are seeing most MMA fights go to the score cards. Guys are holding their opponent down and humping for 3 to 5 rounds and edging out wins. You would think that because you don't have to go 12 long rounds these fighters would fight balls to the wall the whole fight. I prefer boxing any day.

Like it or not, there are a lot of white fighters in UFC and I believe that's one of the main reasons it has become such a big thing.

I think it's cuz ppl want instant gratification.

Boxing has more of a payoff but you have to really care about it, be invested in it, be knowledgeable about it (except for Klitchko fans).

Whereas, to the idiot mainstream viewer, MMA has two muscle bound bald guys with tattoos attacking each other with heavy metal music playing in the background and commentators screaming at the ******est ****.

All the sports bars around here (a very white area) buy the major boxing events as well all the UFC stuff. I watched Pacquiao/Hatton in some super bro'd out sportsbar haha.

$55 SD or $65 HD for Direct TV. Its nice but expensive (direct tv). I think I pay $150 for Direct TV and another $60 for High Speed Cable Internet. Then I pay another $15 for NETFLIX.... damn.. thats a lot of BS.

It's because all of their top guys fight eachother every single month. Nobody can duck anybody, and every event seems to have popular fighters fighting eachother. People are gonna keep buying their PPV's.
