Martinez did land that punch earlier, just not with the same leverage and timing.

As you said, it was flawless. Sergio got Williams coming onto him with a couple of little steps back, then he planted his left foot and timed it perfectly.

Not a bandwagon fan...but it is what it is.

            Perfectly timed counter right hand.
Left, and I'm not sure if that punch was a counter. It was similar to Pac's KO of Hatton. But yea as soon as Serg landed that punch he knew.

He landed that style of punch (head down, left hand over the top) throughout the first fight, and in the first round of the second fight. It just happened that he caught Williams with the best version of that punch he is ever likely to throw. Defensively Williams was all over the place and Martinez knew the punch was there to land. It was only a matter of time before that punch did big damage. If it didn't come in the second, it would have came later. Paul was getting tagged with it far too easily.

The writing was on the wall alright.

Kinda like when Marquez starts to land that uppercut, it's just a matter of time.

No Ceilings making an idiot of himself again?

My guess is it won't change in 2011.
