dude. are you serious with this question? calzaghe beat roy and kessler. (he didn't beat hopkins on my scorecard) calzaghe refused a rematch with hop & is currently retired while hopkins fights on (that says it all)

ward beat kessler. & jones was knocked out in the very 1st round against green lol

froch has a much better resume then calzaghe at this point...

he's not underrated in my book..

      Ward strggles with Bika
      Pascal struggles with Hopkins
      Froch struggles with Kessler

But really, it's simple. It's about styles and Hopkins strategy for the fight.

Against Calzaghe, Hopkins stated before and after the fight his plan was to take away Joe's number 1 weapon, which is his work-rate. How does one do this? By smothering him, by clinching, by getting inside, by making it an ugly fight. This is how you attempt to cut down your opponents punch out put in half.

Against Pascal, he didn't need to smother him because Pascal doesn't throw many punches - Pascal fights in bursts. This allowed Hopkins to be the aggressor and allowed Hopkins to fight a different kind of fight, which is why Hopkins rarely clinched at all.

If he fought that way against Calzaghe, he wouldn't have had a chance to win. Even though it was ugly, his game plan was correct at his age. There is no way a 43 year old could match 100 punches per round, so what he did was totally legit, even though it made him (and Calzaghe) look like **** in the process to the naked eye, he nearly walked away with the win.

It was a similar case for Winky Wright. Winky's best weapon was his jab, one of the best in the game. One of the best ways to take away the jab is to smother the opponent and get inside, which is exactly what hopkins did. Again, it looks ugly, but it's effective.
        Great post!

          EPIC FAIL

          calzaghe struggled with bika.

          ward beat up kessler.

& froch has done more then calzaghe could ever dream of.

stop over rating this clown out of "woulda coulda shoulda" & traingle theories.

heres the facts. calzaghe was in a fight with hopkins that could have gone ether way (i had old man hopkins winning) calzaghe beat roy but roy is old & war torn as proven in the green fight. it was a FRAUD win. i give him props for the kessler win but kessler was beat even worse in the ward bout.

people aren't realstic with calzaghe. thats why some **** on calzaghe totally.....

excellent ring tactician Winky Wright in 2007 and in April last year we saw him put Joe
Calzaghe on the canvas before fading in the later rounds to lose the fight on a split decision. At 43 it looked as if this time he would definitely hang his gloves up. Tests before the fight indicated that he had a thyroid problem, but Hopkins refused to blame his performance on it

Though Hopkins has never made an excuse for his down-the-stretch-fade during their bout, in the immediate aftermath, it was thought that the sheer output from Calzaghe tuckered the ageless wonder out. While that may have had a bearing on what occurred, sometime after the match Hopkins' trainer Freddie Roach revealed that Bernard had been suffering from a thyroid condition for the Calzaghe bout, a condition whose chief symptom is extreme fatigue. Conditioning trainer extraordinaire Mackie Shilstone had tried to control it with diet. According to the doctors Roach consulted, that's a pretty tough task.

I see, so since Calzaghe's style made Hopkins look old, does that mean Pacquaio has been facing slower guys then and is better suited to do so?
