"Mayweather's style would be difficult, but it's a fight we could (not would) win." -Roach
Wow. Roach didn't sound too confident there.

Also, nor did Freddie say it would be easy, in fact he admitted it would be 'difficult' (it's even in the title of the article and thus in the title of this thread).
Again, you can't just put it in black or white terms. As someone else has pointed out, Pacquiao has long held the belief that he lost the first Morales fight due to a blood test weakening him so close to the bout. Considering that was his last loss - and his first significant loss, in a way, since the previous two were pre-Roach, when he was a skinny kid fighting in the much lower weight classes - don't you think that belief would hold an instrinsic significance to Manny, especially if he's already superstitious? Can't you see that there isn't just a black and white? It was very well-publicised and well-documented that Pac blamed a blood test for that loss. And so it does seem strange that given that this information was in the public realm, Floyd comes out and not only requests but INSISTS on random drug testing close to the fight - a request he has never, ever made of any fighter (nor had he voiced any concerns about PED use in boxing) but he makes it of Pacquiao, and to drive home the point he (along with the rest of the Mayweather clan) starts besmirching Manny's good name and reputation with completely unfounded druguse allegations...
In my opinion, this was Floyd's way of sabotaging the deal. He knew Manny's ego, his superstition would not allow him to be dictated to by Floyd. As far as Manny is concerned, the state Commission decides which testing protocol is in place, and that is that. Floyd knew Manny would not bow to these unprecedented demands and so he refused. I'm sure Floyd had no problem agreeing to 50-50, glove size etc. knowing full-well he had put a spanner in negotiations with the OSDT request.
At the end of the day, Manny knew he could turn down the request, try and make the fight using other, less-harsh protocols that wouldnt weaken him for this huge fight, but the negotiations broke down.... Manny obviously knows he can still go fight someone else and make upwards of $20 million dollars
You say Floyd's legal troubles mean he isn't thinking of Pac now, but the fact is, even before these legal troubles Floyd had ceased to respond to Pac's challenges. The silence is defeaning. It's pretty obvious the man doesn't want to fight.
Roach only said just recently the fight would be difficult but has said before that it would be easy. but if we're going by latest then yeah i take it back. and with floyd not answering pac's challenges when pac turned down the first fight floyd just pretty much said screw it ill fight shane and take a vacation. everyone knows for the past few years floyd has only fought once a year so i dont why everyone is surprised that floyd took the rest of the year off. maybe they didnt want to fight each other and used the situations that happened as reasons to get out of it. well i hope they can set aside their fears and egos in the future and give the fans the fight they wanna see.

and if you look at the time frame here, youre comparing last years floyd to pac 12 years ago......its not only bert sugar thats blaming floyd for his b1tchass...the fact that, floyd did'nt need OST his whole carreer up until he was going to face pac tells you he's not confident enough to egt there with pac...
As for OST, that's an entire whole other story. You can think what you want but the fact remains that "the system has failed". In today's society claiming you never failed a drug test does not validate you as being clean.
I believe "MONEY" Mayweather was so confidant he took the time to negotiate with Pac and even agreeing to $10 million dollars for every pound he would be overweight (as if he EVER came into a fight overweight). He agreed. Besides, Roach made the comment that "Pac isn't ready for a fighter like Mayweather". If anyone wasn't confidant it was Roach saying that and Pac making every excuse in the book to avoid taking the blood tests that followed up of Ariza saying Pac doesn't know what a steroid is and has no idea what he takes. Bob comes out and says he couldn't care any less if Pac ever fights Mayweather.
now here it is 2010 almost 2011 and Khan's stating that Pac's STILL not ready to take the tests....
But hey its Floyd's fault right? lolLast edited by WESS; 12-28-2010, 11:05 AM.

That still doesn't change the fact that Floyd was fighting a LW and that still doesn't change the fact that Arum is demanding that Berto (the WBC WW Champion) must fight (the LW Champion) JMM to deserve a shot at Pac. Isn't this what Floyd did? Yet we still want to point at Floyd for fighting a LW when now Arum wants the current WBC Champion to do it?
Bob has an agenda and certain fighters are not on it. Still to this day, pac is not ready to take the tests. Or is Khan a con? If what this Khan said is true, they lied about the negotiations and NEVER agreed to any of the tests because Pac is not mentally ready for those tests.
keep trying to make these things up? How is Floyd scared
of Pacquiao, when Freddie Roach once said he would want
to fight Mayweather at a catchweight? You Pac fans have
got to be kidding me. There is an article I've been looking
for when Arum said that he would like for Mayweather to
stay retired as long as possible, so that Floyd could be
rusty when he comes back to fight Pac BEFORE the JMM
fight happened. I've been looking for that article for a long
time. If someone can find it. Please forward it over and let
me know when/if you post it.

I'll def root for pacroid but I see the fraud outboxing him and make him look bad.
If this was a risk free fight for Floyd, I believe we would've seen this fight happen already.
