I'd rate his defense Top 5 currently, probably all the way at the bottom, I'd still rather have a defense that allows me to counter. All preference I guess

By the way, I had him beating Cotto, although he did take the foot off the gass.
lol someone with Clottey's defense won't get far, sure it's solid but its counter productive fighting against volume punchers. 20 years from now, Clottey won't be remembered as a great defensive wizard, defense also incorporates ability to counter punch, feint and lateral movement not just standing there in high guard.

Marg was landing against Clottey mostly due to the fact that he was smothering him not letting him breathe. Most other fighters would have been penetrated to the point where they would either get KO'd or give up.

I thought he won against Cotto as well. He did mess up when he took his foot of the gas though you're right.

I think Clottey gets lazy in there and does just enough to win. I feel like he has the potential to do a lot more damage and win easier fights if he tried

Good post bro, although I didn't like Clottey's performance against Pacquiao I still wish him the best. Hopefully he can change his mental makeup.

          Yeah this is true

It's atually not a bad defense, if Clottey could somehow move his head/ upperbody while maintaining that shell, that would enable him to counter, sort of Tyson-esque. Both AA and Clottey have ruined that defensive style. Atleast Winky was able to throw a lot of punches and be agressive.
