Anyways LOL @ unmotivated against Chambers...And, Chambers was very heave as well and still beat him clearly. No excuses bro.

What evidence has there been that he still has it? Because, he KO'd Nagy Aguilera?

    C'mon.

He doesn't deserve this shot. Both Chagaev and Chambers are ranked higher than him. Both Chagaev and Chambers are top 10 in every respectable ranking. Peter doesn't crack the top 10 in any respectable ranking.

If he still has it let him start over and prove himself. Let him go fight Maurice Harris, or Derrick Rossy, or Helenius, or Sosnowski, or somebody like that. Those are 3rd tier HWs if he can beat them then we can start discussing him back to contender status. Until then no he should not be in the discussion.

In his last 3 fights against 3 top 10 fighters he has been decisively beat how many chances can get without proving himself to be worthy? KO'ing tomato cans doesn't prove that you're worthy.
If Adamek beats Peter decisively he can negotiate a Klitschko fight from a position of strength, though.

Chagaev would also be an OK fight for Adamek if Chaggy isn't fighting Haye.

Adamek vs Sosnowski would be a huge fight in Poland.

But, couldn't he do the same if he decisively beats Chambers or Chagaev though?

I think it would be fight than the Peter TBH. But, yea we'll see if Haye mans up to fight one top 10 guy, jesus

Yes it would, for the business side that could very well be the best fight to make against somebody not name Klitschko or Haye.

Too bad Dimitrenko fainted in the locker room cuz the winner of that fight would have been in a much better position right now IMO.

Ever since Wlad right hand in the first fight Peter has not been the same. Sure he had some solid wins against past prime fighters like Toney and Maskaev. Then gets dominated by Vitaly who was gone for 4 years. Now no shame in losing to Vitaly he is an elite HW but he was still gone for 4 years and came back and Peter was his 'tune up' basically. Then in his very next fight losses convincingly and looks very bad against an out of shape Chambers. Then beats tomato cans and just looks bad against Wlad(no shame). But, if he can't be competitive any longer with top 10 fighters. Which he really hasn't in his last 3 fights against top 10 then there is no need to keep on giving him a shot.

It really should be Adamek-Chamber or Adamek-Chagaev for the IBF #1 spot not Peter. He is done, have him beat a top 15 first before considering a shot at the mandatory. But, until he beats a top 15 fighter he is washed up.
I agree there are better matchups than Peter at this stage, but I still think you're condemning Peter unfairly by calling him shot. I also disagree that the first Wlad fight ruined him. He put on, to my mind, the best performance of his career in the second Toney fight and looked to have improved leaps and bounds from his previous fight. He had a bit of a rough patch vs McCline which lowered his stock somewhat, but was impressive against Oleg and various opponents up until the Vitali fight where he was very much a live opponent. I even recall quite a few people giving him a good shot at KOing Vitali and can't recall a single person who claimed he was shot or washed up until after the bout. Sure, Chambers beat him, but Chambers is a pretty skilled and underrated heavy in my opinion so that's hardly a death sentence. Chambers was outboxing Povetkin for large stretches of their fight and throughly dominated the then-undefeated Dimitrenko in the same year as he beat Peter, and had previously beaten Brock so, yeah, like a said, a pretty decent heavy. Since then Peter went on a bum-feasting tour and did more or less what he had to until the rematch with Wlad who was a massive favourite and did a number on him as everyone predicted he would. Sorry, but taken all together that really isn't a firm body of evidence to claim that Peter is shot or washed up. Like I said, if he starts getting dominated by someone like Helenius or Pianeta or whatever you'd have much stronger a case. As it stands, Peter is no better and no worse than he ever was.

I love when posters give this kind of advice. "Yo, he should retire..." Sam Peter is a boxer, that's his job and that's how he makes a living. If he retires how is he going support his family?

Peter is still a top fighter, he lost to only 3 fighters, two of which are the best in the division and are both ATGs already destined for the IBHOF, so no shame in that. An in-shape Peter should have a rematch with Chambers and he could still provide a lot of entertainment against guys like Arreola. That would be a fight I would pay to see Peter vs Arreola. He def shouldn't retire, he still young by HW standards and has at least 3-4 years left in him if keeps himself in shape dedicates himself to boxing again. He just needs to steer clear of the Klitschkos, so no chance of another title but hey, he was a world champ once already, that's the pinnacle of any pro fighter.

I intially saw Peter in the first Wlad fight and thought he was a horribly crude slugger with a decent chin, a bit of power and little else. I was offended that people at the time were comparing him to Tua, let alone Tyson. Sure he knocked Wlad down three times but only one of those was legit, the other two coming from a push and a blatant rabbit punch, and like a lot of people at that time I thought Wlad was on his last legs career wise. I wasn't impressed. I next saw Peter against Toney and again my impressions were verified. Toney outclassed him for large stretches of the fight and I think lost an unfortunate decision. The second Toney fight was where I really started to question my opinion on Peter. He showed a tremendous improvement in almost every department. He constantly attacked Toney's body and head with lefts and rights, punished him against the ropes with well-timed flurries and kept control of centre ring with his pumping jab, one of which knocked Toney down. Sure, you could argue that that was due to Toney deteriorating, but it was much more clear to see that Peter had worked like crazy in the gym and was now reaping those rewards. I won't deny it, I like Peter, and whilst he may show a penchant for laziness, he knuckles down when it counts and has clearly showed a willingness to improve in the past. I don't know what, if anything, the Wlad KO has taken out of Peter, but I hope he can continue to make little improvements in his game and hopefully come back with another Toney like performance.

Sam Peter is the most pathetic heavyweight in the division...Good for Adamek, fight a more credible challenger

I'd gladly step in Peters place and fight Adamek for him. I could use 150 g's.
