Terrible comparison they didnt charge 60 dollars for it and they did it every week or 2 to stay sharp and they all fought quality contenders and champions in between many of these stay busy fights, not a pathetic tune up every 6 months. In the case of Ali and Louis, they were both criticized for any sub standard opponents on the few occasions they fought them and still fought much better competition than Manny has.

My point is still the same. Did they fight elite fighters each and every time?

Okay since times were different, let's not use them. Please name me a fighter who has faced elite competition each and everytime. If you can, why are you holding Manny to that standard?

I would have loved to see Marquez III even before Clottey. Roach and Ariza agree. A lot of fans here are against it saying Pacman would massacre Marquez at this point. (I don't disagree, which is why I want to see it.) They were saying the same thing with Berto, which is Arum's other option. Both of these two are easier fights for Pacman compared to Mosley. Berto hasn't called Mosley out since the earthquake; I just can't imagine Marquez calling out Mosley.

Point is, my reason for Marquez is different compared to Pac haters. But to say Mosley is the easier fight for Pac than either Berto and Marquez is simply idiotic.

Hes doing it for money I understand, doesn't mean the fight should be supported and defended. I was mad when Floyd signed to fight Marquez, its nothing particular against Manny, but his opponents of recent have been pathetic.

Exactly. HBO and Top Rank are 1000X more concerned with what the casual/general sports fan thinks about the fight than what a relative handful of non-PPV purchasers do. Manny is at that Tyson level where it doesn't matter who he fights, it's always a must-see event.

I have purchased every Major PPV in the last 8years when not deployed overseas. So if they are ok with spitting on my opinion then I won't feel bad about not paying for anymore of their ppv's. I can always use the extra money for beer or gas for my SUV.

so you're admitting that Shane is not the easiest? Then I guess kudos to Pac for not taking the 'easy' way out eh? But I bet if Pac chose to fight either Berto or Marquez, then you would complain that Pac cherrypicked the 'easiest' fight? lol. Oh, and fyi, the only 'worthy' fight out there for Pac is Floyd, and same with Floyd for Pac, everyone else is worthless.

Bernard Hopkins at almost 46 years old just fought a guy 18 years younger & for most of the fight dominated!!That's a fighter U support!!

I've followed the sport for over 15 years.

I understand that no fighter goes out and faces elite fighter each and every time.

Is this a great fight....not really.

At the end if the day every fighter takes a money fight/lesser opponent from time to time.

Even guys you seem to be sucking off recently such as Martinez (Who was trying to fight Cotto and Andy Lee) and B-Hop (who fought Oreneles and a guy who is way more shot than Shane in Roy Jones Jr.) are doing to same thing.

My point exactly,he needs to retire??He just performed masterfully,U want to take about great fighters,I suggest U pay close attention to him!!Floyd & Pacman can learn a thing or 2 about greatness from the man!!
