  • Comments Thread For: Arthur Abraham Faces Reality, or Trainer Wegner Walks

According to reports in Germany, well respected trainer Uli Wegner has threatened to walk out on Arthur Abraham (31-2, 25 KO) - unless the former champion accepts the reality of his recent twelve round decision loss to Carl Froch. Wegner wants Abraham to stop blaming various members of his team for the loss to Froch. He says "King Arthur" needs to accepts his role in the Super Six shortcoming or the two men will be forced to go their separate ways.

he must admit defeat before he can work on his flaws. until then he will make the same mistakes and lose because the blueprint to beat him is there. he must make big changes to his style. having one style and not being able to adjust is only going to get you so far. aruthor has the tools but must change his style up and be more active and set his power shots up

I'm an AA fan ,but let's face it he should go back to 160,he's is too small for 168 with his peekaboo style. If he was fast and had a jab maybe he could get by @ 5'10,but he doesn't.

im a fan too and hes actually 5'9 lol. he dont need to go down to 160 i just think he needs to open up more. theres times where he box in a more conventional style and is more aggressive. he has a good chin and good power he has a good jab when he uses it. i dont see why he feels the need to stay in his cage defense. i can understand winky since he didnt hit hard but he also had a fast and long jab. if arthur adjust his style and use a more agressive conventional style he can do much better. and learn to cut the ring off

The way I see it Arthur has been exposed. The blueprint to beat him is out there for all to see. I'm quite sure AA is incapable of changing his style significantly. If he were, he'd done it for Froch. He still has the power, but that's really all.

A move back down to 160 doesn't sound like a possibility to me. AA struggled to make weight in his last 3-4 fights there. So much that he became sick from dehydration at one point.

Uli Wegner is so right. This does not surprise me at all. I am (or was?) an Arthur Abraham fan. But his last perfromance, as also the most of his previous fight against Direll were lacking creativity and any kind of brilliance.

Arthur is not the kind of person who can face his own weakness. That's a huge issue. He was a king at middleweight for years. He is simply lacking size for super middleweight. And he can hardly return to middleweight - too much weight to loose. And for going on with his career he is lacking an ability to accept that his performance in 2010 ******.

Maybe changing trainer will be an option. Howhever, Uli Wegner is already the best of the best.

Firsty Abraham was never the king at middleweight. Taylor was the king, then Pavlik was the king during Abrahams "reign" at middleweight.

Secondly, Ulli Wegner might be the "the best of the best" in euro land but compared to American trainers he ain't ****.....

Abraham was exposed, he was a typical over hyped and over protected euro bum. Who did he beat except a shot Taylor?

"King" Arthur Abraham, my ass. Seems like a ***** outside the ring, and is a limited and ***** ass fighter in the ring too.

A change in trainer is the way to go IMO. Wegner must share a lot of the blame from the Froch fiasco. AA needs new input. AA does not respond well to Wegner's insults.
