  • Comments Thread For: Yvon Michel Fires at Schaefer, Shaw: "American Bulls**t!"

Yvon Michel, promoter of WBC/IBO light heavyweight champion Jean Pascal, is livid with the recent comments from Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer, and promoter Gary Shaw, regarding the officiating in Canada. Both Schaefer and Shaw are upset with the officials assigned to the last two fights involving Jean Pascal.

      Well said Michel!

Michel is damn right about this! Shaw have no business complainning. Dawson lost his fight fair and square and for the Funeka/Guzman fight, guess who was the promoter: Golden Boy (not exactly a local promoter)! So the fat and dishonest Shaw should STFU!
Now, about Golden Boy complaining about Hopkins getting robbed, they're are truly ridiculous. It was a close fight, with many close rounds (though Hopkins dominated the last half of the fight), that's it! So they may believe that their man won the fight (and they may be right) but this has nothing to do with an outright robbery.
It was just that: A CLOSE FIGHT!
The heck with it, even Boxingscene had it 113-113!
So, it's a good thing that Yvon Michel is taking a stand on this. Even more, I think Americans should look at themselves before speaking, there were many REAL robberies this year in the US of A. So they should be a little more cautious before accusing others!

this guy makes a great point, but it was a robbery. bernard clearly won that fight in my opinion. but this happens all the time regardless of the country.. pascal got some good ol fashion home cookin..

There is a rebellion in the French Canadian press (against the draw decision and in the online poll on RDS website the Canadian voters (2600 as I write) gave Hopkins winner with a large majority, 51% vs 28%. Only 21% saw draw! (see RDS website at the boxe (boxing in French) section on the bottom right of the page)

Comments from Canadians on Yvon Michel's blog: An unforgettable boxing night. In one comment (doralissimo) we can read (google translate):

"the whole province was behind Jean Pascal, but the population of Quebec is not a partisan point of not recognizing when an opponent wins the victory. From the 4th round, Hopkins was by far the best fighter in the arena, he has dark Pascal continually given the best moves and showed the greatest determination until the end of the 12th round."

Jean Pascal is finished in Quebec, Canada, the only thing he has big for real is his mouth!

You shouldn't abandon your fighter after one loss.

Well said. I was rooting for Bhop and I still had it a draw. I also thought PAC eged Marquez also. Sorry but early kd count. IMO there 10-8
                Rounds. Have always been so

Hopkins won the fight. Close but he won. Early knockdowns really screwed him.

Michel is right and I've been saying this before, Schaefer and Shaw are all bs. Americans can't handle the truth. They want the judging to be done by the public like just what they're doing @ American Idol.
