    I thought the entire movie was based around Gatti and Ward. I thought Marky Mark was Ward and someone like Pitt was playing Gatti. Well this is disappointing.

    Marshall mathers better know as Eminem (the real slim shady) is also making a boxing movie. I think its in pre production right now. I don't think he's playing anyone famous but I heard its just like his 8 mile movie but instead of being a rapper he's a boxer. Same tune but a different movie. Might be interesting but easily predictable movie that is fiction.

    "Mathers is the leading role of a boxer in the film entitled "Southpaw", directed by Kurt Sutter. The story will detail the life of a boxer who hits rock bottom after a tragic incident.

    Though Mathers is not known for his boxing skills the premise of the story may ring true in other aspects of his life. Eminem has struggled with drug abuse which led to him losing custody of his young daughters. The loss caused him to up his act in 2005 and fight for returned custody which he won. This triumph coupled with his career at an all-time high makes his character portrayal seem less foreign"

    No word has been given as to when the film will be released. Is Em even a southpaw? Boxing fans will really be able to look at this movie with shame if he's not even a southpaw or actually gets int he gym for months to prepare and actually look like a boxer. At least get with Silvester and Will Smith for acting like a boxer. I hope this is better than Ward's movie. Either way I will watch both!

      When I see the words, "Based on a true story", I get that It's not going to be completely true. Like when they make a movie base on a book, not all things are identical. But w/e, ppl are always going to complain and hate.

        It looks like some people do not understand what "based on a true story" means.

          Yet that vile mother****er Mark Wahlberg couldn't get down to 140-147. Everybody he boxed looked bigger than Josh Clottey bull****.
          Here's a comparison:

          I don't see why this is a big deal though.

            The Movie - The Fighter will certainly promotes Boxing;

            It has been said that the lead Actor was inspired by Pacman!

            I agree, it's great that Ward has some time in the sun.

            We all knew he wasn't a champion anyways, so nobody was a fan of his for that reason. And the point is, they tried for that "Rocky" ending, which is why the focus wasn't on the Gatti trilogy.

              Oh please, he shoulda just looked at some old Ward tapes then.

              Ward would fight anyone, no cherry-picking, no looking for advantages, and no calling for catch-weights

                    Teaching someone to box within a few months is one thing, getting them to fight cack-handed is another. I hope Em is a lefty

                      That's why the term should be "loosley based on a true story."
