I realised years ago as a little kid, that an American movie that is "based on a true story"..... is likely to be based on one original fact, event, or person, and the rest will be completely dramatized.

What I expect when I watch a movie that is "based" on a true story, is a completely ficticious story, made for entertainment, by writers who based the original idea on a real event/fact/person.... take "300" for example.

I doubt that either of those guys have even heard of Ward or Gatti ?

I think that the producer was most likely looking for that " Rocky " ending.

A Rocky ending doesn't fit with a trilogy that comprised 3x decisions, regardless as to how good those fights were.

Remember guys, these producers don't give a *** about Mickey Ward, they are just trying to make a movie that will appeal to a mainstream audience.

I understand everyone wanting Gatti vs Ward in this movie, and I understand the WBU title isn't one of the 4 major titles, but who cares? This is a very good movie regardless

And as far as whatever clowns on here claiming the producer "not giving a **** about Micky Ward"... straight out of Ring Magazine...

Ward is quick to point out that the Fighter did not rely on Bob Halloran's biography, Irish Thunder: The Hard Life and Times Of Micky Ward, a book Ward describes as "a lot of hearsay"

"None of the quotes were from us" Ward said. "Halloran just went by what other people said. The movie, it's all from me and ****. We told them the story. They changed some things to make it more appealing but we had input."

I never tried to make out that they were screwing Ward over you clown, I said that the object of the movie was to make money, not to accurately reflect history. They will use creative license to bull****, uh I mean, to ****e it up so that it appeals to mainstream movie-goers.

The movie was pretty good. I have never thought much of Mark E Mark as an actor and I think it really comes out in this. Christian Bale had a great performance and everyone else in the film did a great job as well. The ending ****** as in they ended it with the Neary fight and made it look like this was the highlight of his career. To the non boxing fan who knows nothing about Ward and Eklund it was probably a great movie. To boxing fans who know alot about Ward and Eklund, its an ok movie.

Yep, they tried to Rocky'ify the movie by the sound of it.

Should be ok, I'm gonna watch it.

It was good. But I swear Josh Clottey instructed the fight scenes. Guys just sat there with the ear muffs on forever until they fought back, plus, there were like 3 jabs thrown in the whole movie.
