At 147 outside of the established two, who deserves a big fight more than Berto?

Cotto and Williams have both had big shots and failed more than once apiece.

Would rather see new guys get shots to prove if they can step up instead of recycled guys that have likely proven their limitations.

of course dibella wants another easy fight for berto. He wants a 140 pounder who just lost to fight berto at 147? what a pathetic matchup

Another 140 fighter that Berto's team seem to be chasing, You would think there isnt any 147 fighter who are willing to take Berto on if i have to read some of the comments on here.

Berto is in the running to land a May 7 shot against Manny Pacquiao, but he's a long shot to get the fight. However, it looks like a Berto-Maidana fight is unlikely. "Richard said he would explore it, but he needs to talk to Maidana and HBO told me [Wednesday] that they didn't think it would happen because Maidana wants to stay at 140," DiBella said. "HBO would be happy to buy the fight, but they don't think it can be made." ESPN

the problem is the division is top heavy. theres pac n may at top and theres berto. no1 elses worth a damn. sure berto could move to 154. but its not as smart as going down to meet a fighter midway between 140 and 147.

Stronger- ermmmmmmmmmm NO! Did you see how many flush shots Maidana took from Khan and he kept coming for 12 rounds. Maidana couldnt have faced a better fighter style wise than Khan if he is to fight berto.

Maidana takes Bertos Heart In The 10th(or Before).

There are 147 pounders willing to face him, it is just that list is full of guys that people would not know even if you showed them three of their fights.

Berto's issue is the division is soft outside the top two names and Berto is number three with a pretty big gap between him an number 4 (unless you count Williams or Cotto that would obviously move Berto down a peg). It is a hard spot to be in because he isn't a big enough name to draw out the big fish but he is big enough that he needs to fight guys people recognize (in someway) to really advance.

It is a no mans land, sucks for him.

even if berto could make 140 i would still take him in that one.

i wouldn't be surprised if he ko'd maidana in 7.

to be honest i think maidana is just there to be outboxed.

people overrate him & love him because of his heart which is totally understandable.
