In the fight with Harris ortiz rehydrated to 152 and for Peterson he rehydrated to 156...Ortiz squared up against Peterson instead of making himself a flatter target like he did against Harris....I don't think 140 is his weight class anymore and that he needs a trainer that can motivate him...even on a new interview Ortiz said he took some rounds off because he thought he was ahead after the knock downs, and he said he didn't want to get careless and finish off Peterson because Peterson is young and still in his prime which meant he can't stop him?...I think Danny Garcia made Ortiz believe that he can't stop Peterson which is dumb because he dropped him twice and there were times where it would have been more knock downs had he not held on to Ortiz...I think that the weight was the issue and his trainer didn't prepare him for this fight...Danny Garcia didn't seem to have a game plan to help Ortiz adjust...wether ortiz has the killer instinct or not it is also the trainer's job to be a mentor for his fighter...I also remembered in the maidana fight that his trainer told ortiz he was gonna stop the fight? You don't tell your fighter that after being knocked down once and still leading the score cards...then against Peterson he told ortiz to take it easy after knocking Peterson down...WTF is that?

for someone that's been through a lot outside the ring, its strange to see him lack heart inside the ring. I mean look at him speak after the fight, he couldn't care less and wasn't calling anyone out, he went on to say boxing is not everything etc and he's just having fun. He hasn't done anything after Maidana and really didn't live up to being prospect of the year by ESPN. Makes you miss guys like Barrera, Morales, Gatti etc.

Probably the things outside the ring put the things inside the ring into perspective. He and his sister and brother can live a good life from what he is making at the moment, regardless if he ever reaches all time greatness or multiple division titles. If he is satisfied with that, then no disrespect and I am still a fan, I mean who are we to judge someone who puts his health on the line and already made it very far, way farther than 99,99999% of us would ever make it.
I don't believe it's as easy as saying he has no heart anymore or never had any to begin with, but it surely seems like he's not hungry enough sometimes. And that's a very sad sight, the guy looked like he had it all, boxer and brawler. Too bad he doesn't use it and, like Merchant said, slugged with the slugger and boxed (awfully, 2 landed jabs...) the boxer.
I mean, he is still 23 and he could take a lot of directions, but the one he is taking right now reeks of underachievement.

His lone defeat came to the hands of the man who is regarded as number ONE in th division and he more than held his own. His body work actually began to seriously hinder Bradley, then bradley finished off boxing from the outside to change the tempo.

Lamont is the best fighter ortiz has fought, actually. I just think people have a bad impression of the man for whatever reason and consider this an upset of some sort.

I personally thought he was going to beat ortiz fairly easy, and posted i numerous times. He's heavily slept on.
I can't speak for everyone but I am not in the least

see you can indeed take away two aspects from about every fight

how the fight was fought and how the fighter did

on one account some people knew and realized (myself included) that Ortiz L.Pete was about a 50/50 fight

on the other hand we could clearly see a Victor Ortiz who had his opponent essentially overwhelmed and take his foot off the gas. I mean you could clearly see in I think it was Round 7 where Ortiz began to pressure again and regain the upper hand but he inexplicably went back to bouncing from the outside

What yoyu said he's been hydrating to, is why i think him and Rios is a good fight.

Rios hydrates to 152-156 as well after weighing in 135.

I agree with this 100% and this is where people will say that Maidana ruinned him but if anything Maidana smartened him up, although it could have cost him the fight here... it will definitely reward him a few victories in the long run.

Vic is a lot like Wlad right now. It was in trying to finish Maidana that he was beaten. With Wlad, it was in trying to finish BRewster that he was beaten. Those are scars that wont go away and i'll expect them both to always take their foot off the gas several times now in an attempt to prevent situations liek that from happening again.

Lamont had a great countering game during the fight though and maybe Ortiz felt as though coming in too heavy would be a little too costly. Hard to say whats going through the guys head but personally i think Lamont did enough to gain ORtiz's respect and thats what happened.. Ortiz became too respectful.

I think Peterson is getting severely underrated.

But Ortiz just doesn't seem to care about boxing, at all. It's a job he does because it's the best thing available to him, and he doesn't seem to really want it. It's like Maidana ****** all the fun and confidence out of Ortiz, if he can get it back he needs to before he ends up a nobody.
