Comments Thread For: Sergio Martinez-Sebastian Zbik is Likely For March, HBO

According to adviser Sampson Lewkowicz, WBC middleweight champion Sergio Martinez (46-2-2, 25 KOs) will likely make a return to the ring on March 12 against Germany's interim-champion, Sebastian Zbik (39-2, 27 KOs). Martinez would face Zbik before pursuing a fall HBO pay per view televised match against Puerto Rico's WBA junior middleweight titlist Miguel Cotto.

I expected this. Easy win for Martinez.

If HBO wanted a competitive fight, they'd have chosen Golovkin or Pirog.

    Ross Greenburg is very predictable.

its good for sergio but i would have preffered him vs mosley. I know it sounds far fetched but mosley is still a name and sergio needs a big name win even if its against mosley who is on the down side of his career.

          He's the mandatory.

It's still a joke this fight is even being picked up by HBO. It's no different from Pavlik-Lockett and they said they'd stray away from those types of fights.

They're just unconditionally behind Martinez at this point.

I don't like fights like this but SOMETIMES...it's necessary. Martinez, at this point, is a must see attraction. He has tried to land a big fight and it's just not happening right now so he's gonna fight his mando while he waits for the big fight to come. HBO's just along for the ride.

I know he has visa problems and priced himself out the first time, but they should at least look into Alfredo Angulo.

I'd love the fight. But with a huge money fight against Cotto or Margarito, I don't think they want to risk that fight right now.

For the first time, Martinez is holding cards.

It's amazing how people accuse the stars of cherry picking all the time, but as soon as the "warriors" gain leverage they act the same exact way.
