Cortez was just being Cortez. He always seperates fighters when they get too close and start clinching.

Yea cuz Cortez check hooked Hatton into the turnbuckle.... just like Cortez was landing 5 hit combos all night long against Maidana.

It's sad because Maidana would most likely have finished Khan off in the tenth, but every time he got close Cortez broke them up. It was a horrible job by Cortez.

Cortez was clearly over involved in the fight. He took a point from maidana that had no reason for being, not once did he worn kahn for excesive holding. Cortez has lost it an should retire or not referee big fight ever again. This is coming from a rican.

thomas hauser your damn right on this one!! cortez was obviously on khans side, just like the hatton and gayweather fight! and of course the 1st fight between marquez and pac. cortez was on marquez side. cortez is not fair and not firm!!

Cortez has a reputation as a bent ref. This was aired by several posters here going into this fight. Personally IMO he should not have been chosen as the ref if there are ????s about him being dodgy and corrupt
How are referees selected? Do the managers agree or is is it down to the governing body?

I almost burst out laughing with the mention of Maidana's elbow "brushing" Cortez! Are you serious? He threw that elbow with intent, and it was lucky it caught Cortez and not Khan. If you "brushed" your teeth like that you'd end up looking like Leon Spinks!
