Seems rather low for this kind of fight. Look at past Chad Dawson fights, Andre Berto, and other American fighters. Numbers like these really show that there must be a higher demand for American fighters on HBO or that the people promoting American fighters on HBO really have some major pull. I'm honestly surprised that Khan isn't making atleast 2 million for this fight.

Amir Khan isn't that well known in the US is he?

I think that money is pretty good considering Ortiz is getting 150k and is known right?

It's good money, don't get me wrong but he is as known as a Chad Dawson is. I think it just goes to show how much of a pull Al Haymon(I think that's his name) and other America promoters have on HBO when their fighters are making 3x that amount.

I can see Khan surpassing them in sales if he faces Bradley (I assume has enough to beat Alex, and if Khan wins)

Khan has one fight left after this with Golden Boy, and that's gonna be the big one for me.

Golden guaranteed Kahn that kind of money when they signed him. If he loses GBP is in deep crap.

They spent a fortune and a ton of time building Ortiz and after he got KO'ed it REALLY hurt.

It would be amazing if Maidana Knocked out the top 2 Golden Boy future prospects.

As much as Kahn has a major future, until he makes it to that top level and is really bringing in bank, Golden Boy won't make much off of him.

Boxing business is a big gamble. At some point, you show your cards, and you say I'm all in. That's what happened when Ortiz fought Maidana, and that's whats happening now that Kahn is fighting Maidana.

Could you imagine if Kahn get's KO'ed by Maidana and Ortiz gets KO'ed by Peterson? It would set back Golden boy in ways you've never seen before.

at the end its great money for both fighters in the main event and good money for the fighters in the undercard i..m.o. then like it was posted on here with khan at the end earning more with the ppv in the u.s. and u.k. and for maidana if he wins he gets more $$$.

Brock Lesnar has secured 4 1M+ PPV buy events for the UFC. Brock Lesnar is a heavyweight. MMA, as a whole, is more popular than boxing in America.

Brock Lesnar's pay for his last fight? 400K
Amir "Who?" Khan's pay for a title defense at 140 lbs. against an unknown Argentine crude puncher? 925K
How much is that Argentine puncher making? 550K

And then we go through 8 of 12 months in a year with absolutely no fights because HBO's already spent their entire budget for the year.
You're not talking about MMA, you're talking about UFC.

UFC's production costs per fight are significant and they normally stack their PPV's with more names than Boxing promoters stack their PPV's with. Therefore, more names = more purses. A UFC card expensive through out the board which is why their biggest names aren't making Pacquiao or Mayweather money per fights.
