According to the Nevada State Athletic Commission, WBA junior welterweight champion Amir Khan will make $975,000 for his fight with mandatory challenger Marcos Maidana on Saturday at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. This reflects Khan's purse in US money only - and does not include the money he receives for the UK television rights or any of sponsorship money. Maidana will receive $550,000.

perhaps he will net around 2m at most with the pay-per-view in US and UK, so i would say he is doing really well at this stage of his career. if he wins this, it will surely raise his market value and will be raking over a million minimum in purse in the future.

i think that also includes the ortiz-peterson money.

i think i heard Khan is getting £500k+ from UK tv, which is $800k+. so Khan's earning $1.8m+

Maidana's getting $550k, plus GBP are giving him an extra $75k. And if he wins he gets a bonus of around $175k I believe. So Maidana will get $800k+ if he wins.

I think this is a fair split of the money considering Khan is the champion with 2 title defenses, where as Maidana is only an interim champ and is not well known to casual fans. Khan is the draw in this fight.

Surprised Ortiz is only getting $150k, thought he'd be getting at least $300k. Damn, that loss to Maidana has really dented his earnings.
