He's up there, Kessler is a very good technical fighter for his size as well as Adamek. But Marquez is better than both of those.

From this era, nobody is better than Mayweather technically. I don't even mention him in discussions of technical boxers.

Like I said earlier, I really like JMM's skills and boxing iq. However, defense is also a technical form of boxing.

JMM's defense is nowhere near Bernard Hopkins' D. JMM gets dropped way too much for me to give him the edge over Bernard technically.

JMM has a slightly better offense because he throws combination.

Don't sleep on Bernard's offense though. He fought 24 rounds with prime Tarver and prime Trinidad and lost a total amount of 0 rounds.

The guy knows how to tuck his chin behind that left shoulder. It's nearly impossible to knock Hops out.

Hops could go to heavyweight (like Toney) and probably not get ko'd. The guys defense is air tight.

Also, Hopkins may hold too much for my liking sometimes but there is strategy to holding.

Holding allows you to disrupt your opponents timing. Most boxers are full of too much bravado to hold (jmm) and they pay for it. Hopkins has turned holding into a science.

He also knows how to spin his opponents and neutralize their best weapons.

JMM was not able to neautralize Pac's left hook and Pac's left hook is as obvious as Tito Trinidads.

My pick is Bernard as the best technical fighter since maybe Mccallum.

I believe that Calderon is the most technically gifted fighter in the sport today, followed by JMM

Hopkins would have never lost to a guy like Segura. Hopkins sparks a wild brawler like that out with the quickness.

JMM may not be as good defensively as B-Hop but I'd say his offensive technique is superior. Also you have to take into account his predisposition as a fighter - he does not value defense over offense which both Floyd and B-Hop seem to the majority of the time.

Not since Ricardo Lopez have I enjoyed watching a boxer throw, more than Juan Manuel Marquez.

The guy is a masterful technician. Watching him throw combinations the way he does in real time is only best'd by watching those same combinations thrown in slow-motion.

Guys like Hopkins and Mayweather, they're very technical fighters as well, but they're not nearly as orthodox, or "textbook" as Marquez - they have their own way of doing things, a "slick" style.

For my money, Marquez is the best technical fighter in the sport. Bar none.
