Is JMM really the most technical fighter in the sport?

I hear him referenced often as the most cerebral and technical fighter in the sport.

While I respect and admire JMM, I think Bernard Hopkins has always been better technically (offense and defense) than JMM.

In a fantasy styled matchup I envision a prime Bernard taking JMM to school (worse than floyd did).

    Thoughts?

i would think so. wen was the last time a boxer gave combos accurately while back peddling. whether jabs, combos, to the head or body, jmm is accurate with his thinking. hes already thinking ahead of what hes gonna do while giving his first set of punches.

Skill for skill? JMM only lacks steady head movement, and when he leans in on faints he gets hit with lefts (His right hand always drops when he leans in).
But other than that I'd say yes, foot work, positioning and movements are on par.

As far as the B Hop thing, Hop holds too much. tho he is a tech, I'm thinking that holding is him making up for something he's lacking. (Balance, speed, ability to get off constant combos). B Hop is a con artist now, but back in the days he had skills.

JMM as of current fighters, Kahn looks good tho

At least you admit that Floyd-jmm was a "fantasy type" fight.

Bernard Hopkins? LOL I would never think of Hopkins as fundamentally or technically great. I mean he's a slick fighter who definitely does things in his own way and it has been great for him for a long time but I wouldn't want to teach his method to anyone.

JMM is incredibly technical, the way he puts his combinations together and the way he moves in and out and can fight inside as well as outside is about the best in the sport.

DLH was a great technical and fundamental boxer, Finito Lopez, Floyd Mayweather to a certain extent but he also has his own style that he incorporates.

Bhop is almost a perfect fighter technically. Ever see him shadowbox? He steps with every punch and has perfect balance every millisecond. It's really pretty incredible.

If he isn't the most technical he's definitely up there. I think he is one of the best counter punchers in the sport and the combinations he throws are nothing short of amazing. He's a great boxer, he's not afraid to ****, and has given us some great fights. He's has a great ability to come back when he's behind in a fight and for all of those reasons he is one of my favorite fighters.

for me he is. his combinations are the best, he mixes up his head and body punches perfectly. his counterpunching is very accurate...good footwork and body movements.
his penchant to stand toe to toe with his opponent is his achilles heel that's why he gets hit a lot too.
very technically sound fighter and yet a true warrior in the ring.

still he's a ***** when it comes to seeking a 3rd fight with pac...and that piss drinking is a nono
